There is the growl and emotive whiny..Show More » tinge at the end of every sentence that one expects, but with some books it's so pronounced that it sounds like sub-vocal claws on a chalk board, and that completely detracts from the story.
And when you get to that point, it's over.
I really enjoyed reading this series on my kindle, and when I saw that I could buy this book for $1.99, I took a chance. Well, it's been so painful I've been listening to it for 15 minutes at a time, or less.
