Publisher's summary

Six years after a shocking tragedy left her emotionally and physically scarred, Ember Jones lives a life of quiet isolation in Barcelona. Determined to keep her troubled past a secret, she keeps her head down and her heart locked up tight. Until the day a beautiful, mysterious stranger walks into her life, and her carefully controlled world is shattered forever.

Christian McLoughlin is unlike anyone Ember has ever met. Wealthy, cultured, and utterly charismatic, he also has dark secrets of his own. They succumb to the undeniable pull between them and embark on a passionate affair, but things turn explosive when the truth about Christian and the reason he came to Barcelona is exposed. As their dark pasts collide, the two unlikely lovers find themselves caught in a web of danger and deceit that neither of them might survive.

Great read.. Slight SPOILER..

Any additional comments?

Another sexy read.. I finished this this morning at about 1:30 and started Darkness Bound, hopefully the last book in the series. I don't know about anyone else but I'm really tired of so many cruel and depraved bad guys. And now we find out that Caesar's father, grandfather and great-grandfather were just like him? Whew, I'm sure glad they're all dead. AND we have Thirteen and the Albino, along with Caesar as bad guys. Geez, enough already. I'm thinkin' Darkness Bound will be my last book, whether it really is or not, as I'm tired of the horrible and disgusting things done in these books.
With all that's going on all the time I'm surprised the author would go into Ember having such a serious case of "survivors guilt." Her thinking was a little screwy sometimes but she was still really likable. As was Christian. The Ikati are so wonderfully described as being beautiful in human form and in panther form too, the author does a great job in the telling.
Asher has become one of my favorite characters. He does love Ember and is very protective of her. He's a great friend.
Also likable were Dante, Clare and Corbin.

As to the narrator: Another great job by Angela Dawe. I know most of her men sound the same but at least they sound like men. There's nothing worse that a love scene where the female narrator just reads the book and the hero and heroine both sound like woman. As long as the men sound like men I'm ok with them all sounding alike.

Different narrator would have made all th difference.

Author great, narrator so choppy that once I made it this far in the series I then sped thru rest just to get storylines. Thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited and read free listen free. .

Great story

I enjoy this series but have a tough time with this narrator. The intonations just don’t make any sense to me. I turned it on to my screen reader and let the AI read it to me.

Grin that Melts Panties

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

if you like paranormal, then yes, this heroine has spunk and great witty dialogue. Every girl would love a friend like Asher. What fun!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

this did not need to be 14 hrs! a Good editor would have cut it down. This series like so many others goes on too long as editor or author does not know when to cut off the story. Think a bit like Hemingway ought to do it. I purchased #3,4,5 as they had the highest ratings, and this book seems the best so far in terms of witty dialogue.

What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?

everything A.D. does in this book is JUST wonderful. Men are as hunky as they should be.
I don't think I would buy this author unless A.D. is reading them.

Excellant

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book! I'd normally read J.T.'s books a whole lot quicker then I did this one but life got in the way more then usually the last couple of weeks. I love Christian though and was so happy to see him find the happiness that Leander and Jenna found! I love the little updates we got on a couple of series favourites through him as well!
I adored Ember even if she made me want to slap her sometimes for her determination to run from Christian and many of the judgements she made but at the same time I can really understand her cause while I haven't had the tragedy she's experienced in my life I have suffered from anxiety, depression and extremely low self-esteem so I can understand that irrational misery and self-loathing that Ember displayed throughout the book. It's not an easy thing to break and I'm glad she has a great friend like Asher to show her tough love and make her seek help as well as the fact that she know has Christian to help her get better.
The ending is a bit of a cliff-hanger and the colonies troubles aren't as resolved as they think they are! I'm dying to get the next book to see what happens and if they find a resolution and get the peace and freedom from persecution they deserve. I just wish we could have seen Ember meeting Christian's family! I know they'll welcome her with open arms cause she makes Christian so happy. I'm also glad that thanks to Jenna Christian and Ember won't be treated like Jenna's parents were!
I highly recommend this book and series!

I liked this couple

I liked that this one focused more on the couple. No one knew Christian was falling in love with Amber in the beginning and they didn't have to hide at first. You really get to focus on the couple in the beginning. Amber is pretty broken so much that it caused the relationship to go very slow. In this case, I really didn't mind that...I liked their story. However, I don't like the evil in this series. Especially Ceasar. He's pure evil and I don't necessarily like listening to him torture others. I can't wait for him to get obliterated.

Wonderful series.

This series just got better and better. I want to say more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won't do it to you by going into details.
The narrator brings the story to life.
Reasons I enjoyed this audio book:
Wonderful characters, Page-turner, Great world building, Unpredictable, Easy-to-read/listen, Entertaining, Twisted.

Survivor

September is a survivor, even though she wishes it was different, which helps her in this chilling tale.

Not all well

I keep waiting for the story to pick up and since this is Christian's book I thought our heroine would be a little more like Jenna from book one but she is so weak all the way from the beginning to nearly the end. Anyway, at least Angela Dawe is narrating. Great job she did.
