I enjoyed this. It was so romantic and such a fantasy relationship it was entertaining. I'm glad I didn't listen to the previous review that didn't ..Show More »like it. It's an easy listen and a happy love story.
This book is a welcome addition to the Gansett Island series and Joe and Jenny every bit as engaging as characters introduced in the previous books. ..Show More »I particularly enjoyed the fact that while this listen focuses on Joe and Jenny it also includes the ongoing story of other characters in the series. Unfortunately the narration is just as bad as in the previous books.
My Review: Overall... 3.5 star Performance.... 4.0 star Story... 3.5 star
This is one of those books that I honestly think I wo..Show More »uld have enjoyed more if I'd read it rather than listened to it. And I can honestly say that I think this is the first book that I've found that I felt that way about. There's a lot of emotion to this book and listening to it on audio, I think that I lost some of that emotional connection I would have found if I'd been reading the book to myself. I'm not sure why, but it was something I noticed for the first time when listening to this audio.
And there is a lot of emotion to this book. Sydney lost her entire family, two children and a husband, in a car wreck. When she got involved with her husband, she broke Luke's heart. At the time, she was looking for someone with more ambition and money than Luke brought to the table. It hurt him horribly because Sydney was the girl for him. Now that she's back on the island, he can't resist the allure of her.
I had a hard time with Sydney at times. She broke Luke's heart and so many times throughout the story, it almost felt like she was toying with him. I loved Luke's character and hurt so much for him when she would pull back.
There are several close call/emotional points in this book, but there is one point that I really had an issue with where Sydney put her dog in front of Luke. They are both hurt and I understand why the dog is important to her, but I still think she should put Luke first.
I didn't find this book as riveting as the other two I've listened to in the series, but it was still an entertaining read.
I enjoyed this listen as a welcome addition to the Gansett Island series. There is great chemistry between the main characters, Grant and Stephanie, ..Show More »and a strong connection with characters from other books in the series. Unfortunately the narration lacks expression and does little to bring the characters to life. This series would be much more enjoyable with a different narrator.
First let me say that I have read and enjoyed all the books in this series. The Problem I have is not with the story but with the narrator. Ms. Fiel..Show More »ding's narration is so monotone. She sounds like she is putting herself to sleep as well as her listeners! Please get a new narrator!
I enjoyed this listen and the chance to hear Adam's story. Although it works as a stand alone it is probably more interesting and engaging when liste..Show More »ned to as part of the series. I enjoyed reconnecting with characters introduced in earlier books almost as much as I did with the main characters in this listen.
I enjoyed this book and found Jenny and Alex's story particularly engaging. I almost gave up on the series after the last book but am glad I didn't. ..Show More » Jenny and Alex are both strong characters and you can't help but want things to work out for them. Unfortunately the narration is no better than in the previous books.
I suffered through because I like the series but it was torture. This is the first book in the series I've listened to and the narrator is just terrib..Show More »le. The story also just didn't compare to the other books in the series, although my opinion could be tainted by the fact that the narrator is so bad. I understand she narrated the entire series. How do/did people stand it????
