This is book 1 of the Kowalski Family series. Keri and Joe are high school sweethearts. Then Keri goes away for college and to find professional succe..Show More »ss as a writer for a magazine. Joe ends up being a very successful horror novel writter. Fast forward 20 years and Keri's boss finds out she has history with Joe and forces her to interview him or lose her job.
I liked many things about this book. Keri was a realistic heroine. She had her flaws, her attitude and a good sense of humor. Joe, was a real man and I loved his determination to get a second chance at love with Keri. The story was interesting, the passion hot and the situations that happened were very relatable. I really liked the POV that the author uses for this book. She lets you know what both Joe and Keri are thinking and feeling. Best of all, the next two books are even better that this one. This is a sweet, funny and sexy contemporary romance and I loved it.
Narration: Lauren Fortgang does a very good job! Every character had a distinct voice and she definitely added life and emotions to the story. Will look for more books narrated by Ms. Fortgang.
I like Shannon Stacey but this is really bad. Beth, the main character is so unlikeable (a real #itch) that you do not pull for her or them as a coup..Show More »le. After 20 chapters of her being "prickly" she realizes she is in love with Kevin tells him on a napkin and they get married - all this in the last 5 minutes of the audiobook. Beth pushes him (and everyone else) away for no explained reason, holds on to this for 98% of the book and then instantly (again for no explained reason) decides she loves him and wants to get married.
There was no character development to show how she changed and what made her break her though and open herself up to the relationship. The dialog between the brothers, sister and parents was ridiculous and the author should be embarrassed. I know if it were me I'd change my name so no one knew I wrote such a bad bunch of trash. The narrator was okay.
I LOVED this book. This is actually a series although Audible does not say it in the description. This is the third book in the Kowalski Family series..Show More ». This is the right order: - Exclusively Yours - undeniably Yours - Yours to keep This is the first book I've listened to by this author and it certainly will not be the last one.
Emma convinces Sean Kowalski to be her fake fiancé while her grandma comes to visit her so that grandma can stop worrying and enjoy her own life in sunny Florida. This is a light, funny and very romantic story. The ending is quite emotional. Great narrator also. I've you have listened to Susan Mallery books (like the Buchannan series), you'll love this book and this series. Shannon Stacey has just been added to my authors-I-love-list.
I’ve been waiting for Liz and Drew’s story since they hooked up at Mitch’s wedding in book 4, All He Ever Needed.
Liz is the only girl in the..Show More » Kowalski Family and she’s been living away from home for about 15 years. She moved across country from the family’s home, Northern Star Lodge in Maine to New Mexico with her loser of an “artist” boyfriend that none of her brothers liked.
After Liz returned home for Mitch’s wedding she saw that her brothers and cousins were moving forward in their lives with weddings and babies and she got home sick. She already gave the boyfriend the boot but instead of staying in Maine she went back to New Mexico. But her homesickness and Rosie’s (the lodge’s live-in maid and second mother to the Kowalski brood) asking her to come home got to her. So she packed all her belongs into her car and drove home.
Drew has been dealing with his life after his divorce from the wife. Drew has always wanted a family and Mallory (ex-wife) kept putting him off. She lied to him about wanting kids and 10+ years of marriage was wasted with a woman who lied to him. Drew would have been ok (he thinks) if Mallory had been honest with him from the beginning of never wanting kids.
Everyone in the small Maine town knows everyone else’s business. So they know that Drew is looking for a wife to start a family with. That’s when Liz comes walking back into Drew’s life. They both have thought about that one hot time they spent together a few months back at Mitch’s wedding. With them both coming off long-term relationships they thought they only had a shared encounter to help them get over their hurts.
But their feelings for each other start becoming more. Can Liz and Drew find love or is Drew just looking for a baby momma? You’ll have to read Love a Little Sideways by Shannon Stacey to find out.
As far as the narration I can’t really say much more than Stacey and Fortgang are a must listen team. Stacey writes great characters and Fortgang brings them to life like no else can.
