Publisher's summary

Liz Kowalski is heading home to Whitford, Maine - this time for good. Eager for her family, a fresh start and some fun, she doesn't count on being rescued by the chief of police her very first night back in town. Drew is everything she's not looking for...so why is she still so attracted to him?

After a brief, forbidden rendezvous at her brother's wedding, Drew Miller expects Liz to return to New Mexico and stay there. He's searching for someone to settle down with, not a casual fling with his best friend's sister. But when they're stuck together on the annual Kowalski camping trip, things start going a little sideways. Keeping their hands off each other proves just as impossible as keeping their secret from becoming public knowledge.

Amid family, mud and melted marshmallow, Liz and Drew try to fight what's growing between them. But a little time alone, a lot of chemistry and too many opinions might be just what it takes to bring together two people so determined not to fall in love.

Again??

The series started out fun and sweet. Now they have become repetitive and maybe a little annoying. And Paige needs to stop being so annoying. She had a crappy upbringing, but enough already. Done with this series even if free as part of the escape package.

Love A Little Sideways

Loved the characters and the story. The Kowolskys are my favorite. Liz & Drew were crazy in love but didn't know it. What fun.

Wish I were a Kowalksi

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The Kowalksi clan is fun hearted, wild and they clearly care about their loved ones. The story line is great and well developed. I found myself wishing I were a Kowalksi and could hop on a sled or 4-wheeler. I hope this isn't the end of the Kowalksi saga.

Sad This Is the EndFor Kowalski's Series-I Love It

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! This is a great series about a family of siblings/cousins in Maine & N. Hampshire. It is a fun, [tiny, tiny bits of naughtiness] romance series that keeps you engaged and feeling good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love a Little Sideways?

Liz Kowalski is heading home to Whitford, Maine - this time for good. Eager for her family, a fresh start and some fun, she doesn't count on being rescued by the chief of police her very first night back in town. Drew is everything she's not looking for...so why is she still so attracted to him?

He's searching for someone to settle down with, not a casual fling with his best friend's sister. But when they're stuck together on the annual Kowalski camping trip, things start going a little sideways. Keeping their hands off each other proves just as impossible as keeping their secret from becoming public knowledge.

What does Lauren Fortgang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lauren Fortgang is fabulous! She gives each character their own voice and sound...that can be a challenge when dealing with 5 or 6 male characters and 4 or so female characters in this book.

She delivers each emotion as written - happy, longing, sarcastic, snarky... it is all there.

Any additional comments?

I hope there is a long lost Kowalski relative or 10 that Shannon Stacey finds to write about because I LOVE this series and am sorry it is at its end.

Happy romance with lots to keep the listener engaged. Smart writing by Shannon Stacey and great execution by Lauren Fortgang.

A few naughty words and situations but all in all a feel good romance.

Cute story

Cute story. The narrator is constantly saying the wrong names in these books. Did anyone else notice?

Wonderful way to continue the series!

I’m really enjoying this series. They can individually be stand alone. However, if one plans on enjoying the entire series, it may be enjoyed more to read others before this. Without spoilers, there is a family reunion and those scenes may be more enjoyable knowing some history/back stories.

Love a little Sideways

Terrific story that kept my interest to the end. Cried and laughed in places that tore me up and then delighted me.

Good series

3/5 rating: pretty good. I liked the story and cast of characters. The end was too abrupt. Some sexy scenes. Narration was okay.

Stacey & Fortgang is a winning team

I’ve been waiting for Liz and Drew’s story since they hooked up at Mitch’s wedding in book 4, All He Ever Needed.

Liz is the only girl in the Kowalski Family and she’s been living away from home for about 15 years. She moved across country from the family’s home, Northern Star Lodge in Maine to New Mexico with her loser of an “artist” boyfriend that none of her brothers liked.

After Liz returned home for Mitch’s wedding she saw that her brothers and cousins were moving forward in their lives with weddings and babies and she got home sick. She already gave the boyfriend the boot but instead of staying in Maine she went back to New Mexico. But her homesickness and Rosie’s (the lodge’s live-in maid and second mother to the Kowalski brood) asking her to come home got to her. So she packed all her belongs into her car and drove home.

Drew has been dealing with his life after his divorce from the wife. Drew has always wanted a family and Mallory (ex-wife) kept putting him off. She lied to him about wanting kids and 10+ years of marriage was wasted with a woman who lied to him. Drew would have been ok (he thinks) if Mallory had been honest with him from the beginning of never wanting kids.

Everyone in the small Maine town knows everyone else’s business. So they know that Drew is looking for a wife to start a family with. That’s when Liz comes walking back into Drew’s life. They both have thought about that one hot time they spent together a few months back at Mitch’s wedding. With them both coming off long-term relationships they thought they only had a shared encounter to help them get over their hurts.

But their feelings for each other start becoming more. Can Liz and Drew find love or is Drew just looking for a baby momma? You’ll have to read Love a Little Sideways by Shannon Stacey to find out.

As far as the narration I can’t really say much more than Stacey and Fortgang are a must listen team. Stacey writes great characters and Fortgang brings them to life like no else can.

Boring

I loved some of this series but this one was basically nothing but a story about the sister in her thirties who returns to her hometown interested in a local police officer who is the best friend of her brother. The entire book is mainly about the brother talking to his friend about not letting the sister down. She is a grown woman for goodness sake just ridiculous. I think it is scraping the barrel to make another book. Waste of money I have tried so many times to finish it but just can't.
