Characters are well developed, and Kitty is really likeable. The mystery in the story is captivating. It is another great escape for readers in the Kitty series. Recommend reading in order to see the development of each character. Narrator is great.

I don't cry easily, but Carrie Vaughn's writing, and Margarite Gavin's reading, brought me to sobs during the very touching talk between Kitty and her..Show More » mother regarding both of their health problems. It was so realistic, as I have been a third person in almost the same situation, and it was so very moving. I, too, have been bitten by Kitty (excuse the pun), and I look forward to every one of her books. As for Margarite Gavin,she reads for several of the series that I am currently hooked on, and she is a primary reason for my addictions! I will listen to her read the phone book. She has a wide range of voices, and knows when to deliver the intonations in her reading. All round- this series is a delight to listen to, as well as a pretty good who-done-it.

Ok, something about the name "Kitty" turned me off this book for about a year, finally I gave into to all the recommendations. I am glad I did. She is..Show More » funny and so unlucky, it reminds me of Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich series, but much much more unlucky. I got hooked quickly and I only have one book left in the series. Each book builds on the last, and average about 7 hours a piece just enough time for Kitty to get herself in trouble and right back out of it again. This is not a deep book but enjoyable just the same. It's light at times, funny, and then serious but not so overwhelming that you can't set it down and come back to it. Its a good light read and the narrator was just perfect for the book, she tells the story in a light enjoyable way, and she has become the voice of Kitty in my mind.

Some vampires can't be seen in mirrors; some can, depending on the author. Some werewolves shift easily; some suffer agonies, etc.) The narrator is fantastic. Kept my interest throughout.

These books are right up there with the latest top Sci-Fi & fantasy books that have come out over the past 2 years. Awesome!

Love the series and this book, at the core, was all about pack dynamics. Kitty hasn't been in the limelight as alpha of her pack since she took over ..Show More »at the end of Book 4. Nice to see her interacting with the pack as their alpha, and nice to see Ben backing her up. Cormac being back is icing on the cake.

The story was a complete departure from what I like about the books: the relationships of the werewolves, and the relationship of Kitty, Ben, and Ccormac. The story wasn't very interesting, but I listened because I kept hoping it would get better. It didn't. The narrator was great. If it had no been for her I wouldn't have been able to get through the book. I hope the next book returns to the Kitty of previous books.

TJ's story was also excellent. There were three stories that featured Kitty. Only the one in which she was helping a fellow werewolf was actually good. The other stories seemed out of place. As always Marguerite Gavin was great.

I have historically loved the Kitty Norville series, but this one left me a little wanting. First off let me say that Marguerite Gavin is spectacular ..Show More »as usual, and the production of this audio book is of very high quality. The writing itself is crisp, funny, and well done...the story on the other hand is basically a set-up for (hopefully) the next novel. The plot in this book just seemed very low-key, no really overall dramatic plotline, when something does happen it is quickly resolved..then something else might happen but these subsequent events did not really seem connected to the prior event. Rather there seems to be several hidden sub plots/action streams happening that we don't really get to see yet. I equate this book with a "book 1" of a trilogy, where some minor things happen but the real plot is to be revealed and resolved in subsequent novels.
That being said, I think that Ms. Vaugh is leading up to a humdinger of a showdown and anybody who misses this book will be lost in later books. So it is a must-read for Kitty Norville fans, but it will probably leave you a little disappointed that nothing really happens.
