This is a well written book, however I question the placement of YOUNG adult. Strong Characters, and real life situations make for rewarding literatur..Show More »e. The concepts principles and the narrator are a total win-win.
My only complaint would be that young adult and kids are so closely linked on the website. The introduction to the book even pronounces "This is Audible Kids". The subject matter is mostly adult, and older teens. High sexual content does make me worry that younger children might get an inappropriate dose of Oral Sex, Casual Sex, Sex as a way to keep a boyfriend, Alcohol abuse, Alcohol abuse at school and marijuana use. Of course that is only the first six chapters.
All that having been said, it is a good book, which was well read. I hope that Audible gets the rest of the series (Currently they only have book 1 and book 4, 2 and 3 to be released in late 2008). I would however need to know the teen, and their mental maturity level to recommend this book.
I would also suggest that Audible section 'young adult' and 'kids' sections in a way that makes this book less likely to fall into the hands of the young and mentally immature. Perhaps also amending the "Audible Kids" to pronounce "Audible Teens". As a responsible parent I try to check the literature my children listen to and read. Appropriately sectioning, and correct product placement does go a long way to assisting parents.
Terrific story, couldn't wait to read the next book.... didn't realise the narrator changes for the forth. Edwina is an excellent narrator for this s..Show More »eries. In this book you cringe, remember this character is a teen, but character development is strong and no one is perfect. A good listen if you have enjoyed the first two.
WHY after 3 books would they do that? I didn't dislike or like the o..Show More »riginal one, but this one is all wrong! It's hard to tell the characters apart. Maybe it will grow on me, but I'm having a really hard time getting through this book because of the narrator.
I could not be believe my ears, they changed the Narrator yet again, only this time it is worse than Hunted Narrator Jenna Lamia (who sounded 1..Show More »1).
Cassandra Morris sounds like she is maybe 8 yrs old and her pronunciation of the author's terminology is dare I say childish.
Please I encourage everyone to write MacMillan Audio and the Author's and beg them to please, please go back to Edwina Wren.
The book itself is pretty much on par with the rest of the series, I enjoyed the continuing story and advancing of the characters. That said, it took..Show More » me FOREVER to get through this book because I could barely STAND to listen to the narrator. Her accents are laughable, and in certain cases downright insulting (her reading of Karmeesha's every line made me cringe!) I won't be listenting to the next book if there isn't another narrator change.
Unfortunately, this book never really developed. Way too much time devoted to the mundane... going to bed, waking up, mourning her losses, alot of "sh..Show More »oulda, coulda, wouldas" in this book which led into alot of nothingness and very little storyline since the last book, there seemed to be so much details and information in the first 3-4 books, now it seems she"s just writing to fill pages.
To me, in this book there was only 2 important points in the whole book, and the rest was just filler. I love this series I love the writer, but I was trully disappointed in the lack of substance the book carried..
Sometimes cliff hangers are a real pain & sometimes they are used appropriately. After reading Destined, you'll see that the latter is true for this b..Show More »ook. Even though the 1st books in this series were the best, I like the way the story is forming & I can *gasp* see a possible end in sight! Then hopefully all of my cliff hanger questions will be answered. The narrator to these books is not my favorite, mainly because of how long it takes certain characters to complete a sentence but other than that it was a good book. I would say its probably worthy to take up space on the "2nd shelf" of your wishlist.
I've been looking forward to this novella for a while now. Dragon Lankford was my favorite of Zoe's instructors. I always knew there was more to him t..Show More »han beat the eye. This is the story of how he came to be a vampire & how he fell in love with his Anastasia. The mother daughter team tie the modern day story line in perfectly. it is truely a great read! PC & Kristin Cast. Caitlin Davies was superb. I truely love narrators that act when they read. Her voice is young & refreshing. She did a truly great job!
I loved that this novel. This novel transforms you back into time while listening to it.Although, listening to this novella seemed short, the overall s..Show More »tory was well worth it.I would definitely recommend this book even if you if you haven't listened or read the other House of Night books. This story is a story in its own.\ Definitely a Must Listen! <3
If you have read the rest of the series, yes, I would read this one. It continues the story with the gang. There is nothing that stands out as super ..Show More »interesting though, and had I not read the rest, this book is pretty boring and can't be read as a stand alone.
You don't have to be a House of Night fan to enjoy this novella. However, if you have read the series you'll certainly want to know why & how the bea..Show More »utiful vampire we all love to hate started to become so evil. Although I expected more to the story it still was entertaining to listen to & thanks to Caitlin Davies' wonderful narration it just got better. If you are a fan you'll want to get this great back story.
I give it to the Cast Girls they keep you reading and looking forward to the next book even when your ready to cut them off. The first few books suck ..Show More »you in with the characters and plots but by the 8th book all that made you love them annoys you. Even Neferet has gone from bad ass to "Really Now". Truly if it wasn't for Caitlin Davies narrations I couldn't have gotten through it. That being said Redeemed has a decent enough ending to a lingering series for those who feel the way I do i.e. "I'm done with this series but I can not not listen to it." Thanks so much for the good times but glad to say Good-Bye.
