I have listened, to "Last Light" and having been with out electricity for over three weeks after the hurricanes that hit Fla., I felt much the same w..Show More »ay that these characters felt. And believe me after the first week my family was on each other's nerves. Just knowing the electricity would soon be back on was all that got us through.
And as I was looking for a good Christian author, it felt good to read this book and then recommend this book to others, with out saying, just ignore the few bad parts. Thanks Terry for this book.
And as for bringing Christ into the Book, It made me stop and take a good long look at my own life.
To see where I stand with God, myself. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books by this author.
I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. I like the different narrator better, and I thought the story was much more emotionally gripping. ..Show More »I was also challenged by the message, and spent some time soul searching about how I would react in similar circumstances. Christian fiction at it's best!
As this is the 3rd book in a series by Terri Blackstock, the first book starting off a world-wide power blackout which caused all modern electronic eq..Show More »uipment to stop working in an instant, planes to fall out of the sky, cars to stop dead in their tracks (except really old cars), people on the planet Earth are getting used to the outage and are starting to figure out how to get by. The Branning family, the main characters in the series, come closer to their faith and continue to live and learn lessons in this new installment as they wait to see what is planned for them next. All in all, I found this an enjoyable "what if" series which really made me think about what I would do if I lost all of my electronic equipment all of a sudden. How would I cook, keep cool, get around, earn a living, get food? Yikes!
I listened to this entire series twice about two years apart and am writing the review after listening the second time. There aren't too many books I..Show More » want to listen to more than once but this one has a good mix which keeps it interesting. If you are considering this book, you should start with Last Light, the first book in the series. Night Light is the second book and True Light is the third. This one (Dawn's Light) is the fourth. In Last Light, all electrical power and electronic devices on Earth mysteriously stop working one day. The books follow a typical American family, the Brannings, as they try to survive in what will become a very real crisis. As they encounter impossible situations their Christian faith is challenged and strengthened. Highly recommend this series.
