This is my second review on a John Grisham book and seriously this is almost kindergarten stuff. Boring, sentimental rubbish. Nothing like pumping out..Show More » a book that barely rises above mediocre. Dont bother wasting a credit on this one.
Grisham does a great job of taking his great law drama style and putting it on the level of a young adult (ages 8-16 IMO). In an unobtrusive way, he e..Show More »xplains any of the technical aspects of law that are critical to the plot. He goes "out on a limb" and creates a character that has a good relationship with his parents without the parents kowtowing to the child.
Adults will enjoy the story as well. The plot is not as filled with twists and turns as his normal, but that is to be expected with the target audience. I did finish the book feeling like he had intended to write three more chapters, but cut it for some reason.
Nevertheless, it was a good read (listen). I hope this isn't his last for this audience. I'm looking forward to my kids having more of these.
I enjoyed the first book in this series Theodore Boone: The Kid Lawyer so decided to listen to this one also. Glad I did. Richard Thomas does a good..Show More » job narrating the story. This story is advertised for children but adults will enjoy it also. It is a short story that leaves one feeling good. It is nice to see a 13 year old with such a focus on what he wants to do with his life. Enjoyed the scenes in animal court in both books. This one particularly was funny. You will enjoy this book for a 4 hour trip with the family.
This is the third book in a series for children but adults will enjoy it also. This book is a good choice for a family car trip. The story picks up f..Show More »rom book 2 with the start of the trial for a man accused of killing his wife. In the last book Theodore class had permission to attend the trial as part of the class work but as the second trial begins the permission is revoked and only Theodore may attend and report back to the class. The story moves quickly into one attack after another on Theodore, his locker at school broken into and items missing, tires slashed on his bike the he is accused of stealing. The story provides some lessons on bullying, facing false accusation and honesty. The pace of the story is fast, never a dull moment. Richard Thomas does a great job reading the story. If you listen to the book with your children or grandchildren there are a number of interesting discussion topics in the story that should lead to great family discussions. Everyone in the family will enjoy this book.
My 9 year old loves this series. No sexual undertones or needs for parental worry. I can listen to it with her and find it enjoyable also. The dia..Show More »logue about legal process is educating and appropriately written for children to understand. I recommend this series.
