The only problem I have with the audio version of this book is the narrator, Whenever he impresonates a woman I begin cracking up, it really sounds ..Show More »like he's joking at first. He does this in both books of this series. Fortunately, there are few women characters in this one, and so the distraction is limited. Other than this and his overly perfect pronunciation of every word, he really does great accents, and is very consistent with the character's voices throughout the book.
But here's why I give this read 5 stars: I actually listened to this book after Sticks and Stones, in other words, out of order. I was stunned at how good this book was. It's much better than its sequel. The character development balanced with the intrigue of the case the story revolves around was in perfect proportion. It's a little slow at first getting started, but it really was worth it. Being a gay man myself, I was amazed at how spot on much of the sexual tension believe the two men was. Especially surprising is that it was written by two women. Ha! I would love to know what kind of research was involved in gay-men courting in order to write this book. Throughout the story you sometimes want to strangle each of the characters, and other times want to be the object of their seduction. I found myself relating to both Ty and Zane in different ways. And the climax of this story brought tears to my eyes. Congrats to the authors on an amazing book, the best gay-novel I've ever read. Thanks!
I fell in love with Ty & Zane's story in Cut & Run. Sticks & Stones gave a natural progression of their relationship. I am still wanting more of the..Show More »ir story. I think there is more to be said . . . but I can live with what I have. I have listened to Cut & Run twice and just finished the first listen of Sticks & Stones. Urban & Roux have hit a homerun with these stories by making the characters REAL WORLD real. Some men never say "I Love You" to each other but that doesn't mean they don't feel the emotion. And, two tough FBI agents are a perfect example of that!
I've always considered F&C to be the weakest in the C&R series. My personal favorite is the book that follows, Divide & Conquer. Still, I've been impa..Show More »tiently awaiting the audio version. And it is definitely worth the wait! Since Sawyer Allerde is no longer available to read, I'm happy with the choice of Sean Crisden. He reads for Mary Calmes and I've always loved him with her lighter, 'perfect' protagonists. F&C can't have been the easiest book to narrate. There are accents flying everywhere, even Italian text, and worse the authors never pre-warn when Ty's accents, in particular, gets switched. Sean Crisden, bless him, is horrible with accents. Every time he did the British accent I had a flashback to a Georgette Heyer novel. While he lost points for the accents, he gained points for tackling these accents. Sean Crisden's version of Ty, in general, is softer, more emotional, than the Ty of C&R and S&S. I'm curious to hear his interpretation of Ty in D&C and hope that he does get to read it. At this rate though, my three favorite M/M narrators will end up reading all my favorite M/M romance novels.
I feel like these guys are family and I just want to shake 'em and say.... "Get it together!" But their's is a very believable relationship of two me..Show More »n who come from worlds where homophobic standards are imposed. I do have to say that despite that, the end of this one is just out of left field. We need a resolution!
Ty and Zane are back! YESSSS!!! I was so scared they wouldn’t do any more of these books. These are the best m/m romance book on audible hands down. I..Show More »f you are into m/m romance and you don't have Ty and Zane into your collection... SHAME ON YOU!
When Ty left Zane at the end of Divide and Conquer I was like WHAT!!! OMG!!! and other explanatives. I love not like love the way this book opens up. I love how Ty left, why Ty left and how Ty and Zane came back together... And guess what... we get to see Julian Cross! O Yeah! If you haven't read Julian Cross's book... you might want to read it before this book, to know a bit of background about Julian Cross and his lover, but you don't have to listen to this. This was just awesome. The smex was ultra romantic for Ty and Zane and I mean ultra romantic... OMG! I think I am still blushing... Soooo good!!! 5 stars all the way up!!!
Crisden is the best m/m narrator I think. I am so glad he took over this series...Please Please Please let them continue this... I will scoop them all up the day they come out!!!
