Just like with the Percy Jackson series you get a refresher course in & learn more about mythology; this time Egyptian. Both Carter & Sadie Kane are fantastic main characters. Both strong and smart for their ages of 14 and 12 without being unrealistic. The Red Pyramid is not only captivating but hilarious too. You shut the book wanting more. This is definitely a book for all ages.

The books have legends and history and ancient tales for them to read and maybe even remember. These are lessons that may creep up in school. These books have some fun mixed with knowledge. I cannot think of a better thing for a kid than to read for fun and accidentally learn something. The 30 Clues series is the same. Many historical and geographic facts mixed with a fun story.

When properly narrated, the listener can enjoy a different view of the same tale. This performance is a perfect example of that. I have read, and now listened to, all three titles in this series. The narrators' interpretations of the banter between the Kane children through emphasis and inflection was different than my own, yet seemed to add to my enjoyment of the story.
