Really liked 50 shades trilogy, the crossfire series, and the Stark trilogy. I was looking for something similar but this was awful. He just seemed ..Show More »mean and I have no intentions reading about sharing I mean seriously, if you love someone you don't farm them out to others. Will go no further in this series!!
Hot scenes: 5 because OMG the lady can write some good ones!
Writing flow and style: 4 there ..Show More »were several lines used again and again by th main characters so that bugged me, but the story arc went well.
Premise: 0...yes ZERO! I get the whole love at first site concept, and have applauded it in multiple books but in this book we are suppose to believe that first a catering company hired to cater an Engagement party for a millionaire who co owns the hotel the party is being held in...somehow had a homeless person as a waitress? Because high end catering companies frequently employ random people with no background checks for high end parties...and how does someone who is homeless for 4 years in NYC come even close to being not ill and not have any diseases? Oh, and is clean enough and well shaven to have a threesome and no comment is ever made? So the premise is totally absurd! Then this strong willed person who has what it takes to survive is a full on submissive???? Just thankful not to be homeless anymore so she looses all her fight and drive and is happy to be a full submissive from practically day one? Again, totally absurd that a person who has survived on the streets for 4 years would cede control nearly immediately, no trust issues?
I get that the poor girl waitress finds rich guy bit has been done to death and Mrs. Banks didn't want to go there but it's just an absurd premise...oh did I mention that the female lead came into play seconds after Jace told his sister that he was likely never settling down? The absurdity of the premise kind of ruined the book for me, hope Ash's story is a bit more real.
Burn is the final book in the Breathless Trilogy. The first book "Rush" was Gabe's story, the second book "Fever" was Jace's story, and lastly "Burn" ..Show More »was Ash's story. I enjoyed this world given to us by Maya Banks. I've always been wishy washy about her books. I have a love/hate relationship with the author. This is one of her series I would recommend to others. Ash McIntyre, self-made billionaire, through years of hard work and determination, made it his goal to separate himself from his worthless money hungry family. Ash is known as the cool, down-to-earth guy everyone loves. But on the inside, he's much, much more than that. With his two best friends and business partners settling down with the women they love, Ash is feeling restless & like a third wheel. When Ash runs into Josie while walking thru the park, he knows there's something about this woman that's different. There's an undeniable chemistry and Ash's has this extreme desire to have this woman in his life. He has to make her his... He wants a dominance and submissive relationship. Josie is the complete opposite from Ash. She is very vibrant & artistic. Some how they compliment each other through out this book. I enjoyed having the characters from previous books play big parts in this book. I've always liked Mia, Gabe, Jace, and Bethany. I definitely recommend Burn especially for those listeners that like plenty of steamy scenes and dominant males.
