I agree with the other listens that said it was off and on. Some parts where very slow. I think the book could have moved a little faster, it seemed..Show More » to drag a little. But still a decent story overall. On the slow parts I found my self concentrating on the narrator and realized that some of the voices bordered on baby voices, which is not good for supposedly grown women. I may give book two a try, not sure yet.
No, the premise of the book is good but I often found myself yelling at the radio because the main character started to bother me. In the book the ma..Show More »in character, Jade, is trying to find her mother, save her loved ones and stop an all powerful demon. As she tries to do all this, I believe she looses focus on what the real problem is and spends most of her time being stubborn and not listening to anyone who is trying to help. She is so stuck in her ways that it ruins it for me. She doesn't ever listen to anyone.
Also, it has some mystery thrown in there to help to retain the reader. As the book goes on, the reader begins to figure stuff out but Jade just doesn't see things because of her stubbornness. It was very annoying that she didn't start to figure stuff out sooner. I know part of the book was her "finding herself" and learning "who she is" but come on, how long does that take!
I have enjoyed all the Bourbon Street Books but in this one we get to learn more about Jade past and the past of her family. I really look forward to..Show More » the next book I hope it will bring out more about the relationship with her coven. I was also excited to see in this book we learn more about her true feelings about her powers. If you haven't read the other books I recommend you do. Deanna Chase has given us another great story and I look forward to the next one.
Chase creates new depth and richness for her world
I enjoyed this story in conjunction with the ebook, swapping between them whenever I needed to (mostly when I was driving I would listen and at home i..Show More »n the evening I would go back to my kindle. I just didn't want to put this one down so having the two options made it that much more enjoyable.
