While on an assassination job for the 'disease control' company she works for, Hornclaw makes an uncharacteristic error, causing a sequence of events that brings her past well and truly into the present.

Esistono luoghi capaci di farti sentire accolto anche solo per l'atmosfera e il profumo che si respirano al loro interno, e la pasticceria di questo romanzo è esattamente così: aperta ventiquattr'ore su ventiquattro, a prima vista sembra un normale forno dove comprare pane, torte e biscotti con un signore un po' burbero dietro il banco. All'apparenza, però. Perché, quando il ragazzino protagonista di questa storia lo sceglie come rifugio per scappare da una situazione familiare difficile, la realtà che trova è ben diversa.
