Based on historical facts, our story begins in the Fall of 1723 in Dover, NH. That September dsy Tamsen’s world is shattered and turned upside down when her husband is killed and two of her children are abducted by an Abenaki raiding party. New Hampshire Colony, 1725 After meeting Captain Sheldon, he arranges a meeting with the Governor who promises to try to find her two kidnapped daughters. A letter arrives from Rachel in New France. Someone breaks down their door and a drunk is hurled inside. At the Meeting House on Sunday, the minister accuses them of having a drunken party. The truth comes out and the minister apologizes. New Hampshire colony, 1726. Tamsen realizes the government is hampered by the conflict with the French and it hampers their efforts retrieving the colony’s kidnapped citizens. Counterfeit money is found circulating in the colony. Another letter arrives from Rachel. John finds a peddler who will take them to Albany, but he will not take a woman. Fort Chambly, New France, 1726. Tamsen and John meet the Jesuit priest who knows their daughter Rachel and escorts them to the Abenaki village. Later, they board a boat to Montreal where they, with a little luck, find Rachel for a tearful reunion. At the convent, the Mother Superior insists Anne must remain there until her ransom is paid. Rachel and the Mohawks make a plan and execute it. The Mohawks, promised good trading, guide the reunited family to the trading ground.
