The title of the book explains exactly who the target audience is. I have suffered from the effects of morbid obesity all my life. Over a year ago, I was so overweight my Doctor feared imminent death. My blood pressure was 225/125. It was panic stations.
I spent years fighting against morbid obesity, and morbid obesity won hands down. It brought along its best pals - self-loathing, despair, and false hope; oh, and its tank division - the weight scales. I was on the edge of disability and ready to just give up and accept my fate.
Why shouldn't you use liquid diets? Everywhere you look these days there are advertisements telling you to detox, cleanse, lose weight rapidly, etc. by going on some new fad liquid diet. What they don't point out to you are the genuine, serious, life threatening risks associated with the diets.
