A perfectionist maid of honor and a carefree, surfer-bro best man team up to plan a wedding and end up finding a spark of their own in the first audio original from author duo Christina Lauren, a full-cast sequel to their New York Times bestseller The Unhoneymooners.

Ami is determined to break the Torres family wedding curse. Her own disaster of a reception ended with all the guests getting food poisoning, and she left her cheating husband soon after. But even though she’s still processing her own divorce, Ami won’t let her twin sister Olive’s day be anything but perfect. Olive may think she wants a private ceremony in Maui, where she and her fiancé Ethan first fell in love, but Ami knows better and secretly flies the whole Torres family out to surprise the couple. Now she and her meticulously organized binder have less than two weeks to get everything together for the big day, thousands of miles from home.

Enter Brody, Ethan’s best man, who happens to be living in Maui and insists on helping with the preparations. His playfully elaborate schemes and happy-go-lucky attitude are the last thing Ami needs. When sparks start to fly, could it derail all her carefully laid plans?

Equal parts hilarious and swoon-worthy, this full-cast production is your ticket to the ultimate destination wedding, bringing to life both a captivating couple and an unforgettable family. The Honeymoon Crashers is Christina Lauren at their charming, hilarious best.

Critic reviews

"Listeners will enjoy this robustly produced romance performed by Jessica Marie Garcia; Harry Shum, Jr.; and a supporting cast. Ami had a rough go of her divorce, and she believes her failed marriage is a family curse. She wants to make sure everything goes well at her sister’s wedding and reluctantly accepts the help of her brother-in-law’s best man, Brody, a carefree surfer. Garcia and Shum immediately establish romantic tension between their characters, and though the setup is a common trope, their personalities add uniqueness. The high production values also add to the story. Each character’s dialogue is delivered by a different actor, and the sound effects enhance the action without overshadowing the narrative. Definitely recommended for those wanting a fuller audio experience."

Dear Listener,

Why did we want to write an audio-first story?
"One of the most surprising and wonderful realizations in our writing career has been the way a story changes once it’s out of our hands. Readers interpret things through the filters of their own experiences; audio listeners relate not only to our words but to narrators’ voices too. Indeed, talented narrators are able to make a story feel new, even for an author who has read through their manuscript many times.
When we were given the opportunity to create an audio-first novella, it was a no-brainer. Music, immersive sound effects, and a full cast—what could be more exciting than seeing one of our stories truly come to life? And, even better, we’d been looking for a way to reenter the world of The Unhoneymooners, a book filled with a passionate, loving family and at least one loose string left to be tied—Olive’s twin Ami’s own love story. The first time we were able to listen to our story was an emotional moment. The cast captures the joy, hilarity, and depth just as we intended ... and also delivers layers of delicious chemistry all on their own."- Christina Lauren, writer of The Honeymoon Crashers

Love the narrator performances. A must read. The characters are likable, and there is definitely a comedic element.

Fabulous and Fun

I loved this follow up to The Unhoneymooners so much! Sometimes I find these short story sequels aren’t worth the time (i.e. The Sixth Wedding, follow up to 28 Summers). The Honeymoon Crashers was so interactive, the music, the big cast of narrators, the sound of the ocean, etc, which just added to the charm of the book. Then, the epilogue made me smile, the long game was epic!

Double love!!

The performers were great. Felt like watching a movie. I liked the story, but I didn’t love it.

Enjoyable

This was alright. I feel like I didn’t really get to know the characters since it was a novella. I did like revisiting old fave characters and the continuation of the previous story.

Alright alright

It was short and sweet. And quickly touched on more serious topics that aren’t always discussed in relationships. Good listen!

Sweet little novela
