Publisher's summary

Two men out for revenge. But only one can win.

When an inmate is found unresponsive in his high security cell at Belmarsh prison, he's rushed to hospital for treatment. The prisoner is human trafficker and international fixer Tristan Huxley, a man a lot of people have good reason to want dead. But Huxley mysteriously never makes it to the hospital. He may have plenty of enemies but it seems he has some very powerful friends too.

Huxley's disappearance is bad news for anyone who betrayed him. One of those people is John Milton. Originally assigned to protect Huxley, things turned sour when he discovered the disturbing truth about his old friend's activities. Huxley isn't someone who forgives and forgets. But neither is Milton—when someone deserves punishment, he's compelled to deliver it, no matter where in the world that journey takes him.

A dangerous man is on the loose and Milton isn't the only one on his hit list. But could he be the only one capable of taking him out for good?

Right up there.

His flow is remarkable. If you like the genre he is a master. The story is possible, the action intense. Cant wait for the next.

Maybe the best of the lot.

Good story well narrated and unputdownable... and setup for a sequel... looking forward to it.

What’s next???

This is obviously a “One of Two” edition. It was good Milton stuff, mind you, but stops way shy of a complete story.
When’s the second edition coming?

A very long epilogue

Just as good or better than the other Milton stories, but despite how great it is, be advised, there is a gigantic cliffhanger.

I love ❤️ this series!!!

Why haven't these books been made into movies??? It would be awesome. John Milton is a fantastic anti-hero whom you can't help but root for...and the narrator is one of the best in the industry. I can't wait for the next installment.

This is a good one!

I think the last couple Milton books we no up to what I expect but this one one hit it out of the park! Enjoy my favorite assassin. Just when you think he’s free of all the bullshit he falls right back in the shit. If any of this is close to reality the heads of British intelligence are dipsticks.

Thought the series was losing steam I was wrong

This novel has reignited my love for the series, which I felt was losing momentum. Looking forward to the next installment.

4.25 Stars 🌟

I'm always surprised when I get back to this series by how much I enjoy it. I shouldn't be surprised because we are 21 books into the series, but I think it has to do with the fact that I read so many books and there are always many, many books (and months) in between book reads of the series. Regardless, Mr. Dawson has not disappointed me yet.

In fact....this book held my interest so much and I was so captivated by the story (and frustrated by the cliffhanger at the end) that I immediately went looking to see if there was an ARC available for the next book in the series - Uppercut (unfortunately, I could not find one yet). Mr. Dawson has left the reader -and by reader, I mean me....in a really bad spot and I am very worried with the situation the John Milton has found himself in (again!). But, because I am a faithful reader, I know that this is nothing new for our John and I have confidence that he will be able to find a way out. Or- at least I'm hopeful....

I listened to most of this on audio and really enjoyed the narration by David Thorpe. If I remember correctly, he has been the narrator for most of the series.

Anyway, this is another winner and I will be not very patiently waiting for book 22 :)
