Franciszka and her daughter, Helena, are simple, ordinary people until 1939, when the Nazis invade their homeland. With this book being so short I wasn’t expecting such a great story with so much information. I would have loved to have gotten more in depth on the characters in the book but it was still long enough for me to feel invested in people and families portrayed in the story.

When one tries to put themselves in the place of someone who has been hiding for 20 months, cramped, no baths, no bathrooms no running water not even a ray of sunshine, we have nothing to complain about.. This was an excellent book. and an excellent reminder. Life is good!!!
