Publisher's summary

A second chance at life.

A second chance at love.

Jared Holt never thought he deserved either - until he found both in the arms of Aly Moore. Aly has loved Jared for as long as she can remember, and she's more than ready for the future they're making together. But Jared can't help remembering his own family. And he'll never forgive himself for what happened to them. How can he allow himself the very happiness he once destroyed?

To live a life worthy of Aly, Jared knows he has to stop running and finally put his past to rest. But when he decides to face his demons head on, he encounters more than he bargained for: A dangerous mix of jealousy, lies, and dishonest intentions. When those intentions threaten Aly, Jared loses all control, giving into the rage that earned him his bad boy reputation years before. And he'll fight to protect her no matter what it costs - even if he destroys himself in the process.

It All Comes Full-Circle

Where does Come to Me Softly rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As only my second audiobook, the first being 'Come to Me Quietly', I'm not sure I can give much input. I will say that it didn't seem as awkward to be listening vs. reading by this book and I had grown more acclimated to the voices of the characters, which was hard for me for the first book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Allie. She was kind and patient. She seemed to be nurturing and soo loyal to Jared.

What three words best describe Tanya Eby and Sean Crisden ’s voice?

Soothing, older, funny

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Allie's dad flips out on Jared at Thanksgiving. I was appalled and angry. Even if Jared could be a bit too much at times with his desire to punish himself, at least I could understand the guilt and psychological trauma that he lived with. Allie's dad had no excuse for his behavior. He was just an ass!

Any additional comments?

I'm glad that Allie and Jared get their HEA. This book was much more positive in my opinion. I'm glad that Jared got it together finally.

Even the broken souls need love.

A.L. Jackson is simply amazing I have always loved her style of writing which shows how talented she really is. She has a way of bringing out the feeling out of each character and makes you feel as if you were there.

This book really had me in a ball of emotions: pain, hurt, love, grief, heartbreak, insecurity. All wrapped up in one. As Jared struggles with the pain and suffering of loosing his mother so many years ago he's blind to see how he hurts Alley. Coming to grips with his faults and demons Jared is finally forced to get help or he will loose Alley and the forever. He finally goes to California to confront his dad but little does he know is that his dad has in some at moves on. His father also opens up to Jared and explains everything that happened hoping that Jared will forgive him for bailing out on him.

Alley being the beautiful soul that she is she has always loved Jared and and will wait for him as long as it takes until he makes his way back to her. I

I cried real tears

Loved the storyline! I was initially bothered by the switch in narrators from the first book, yet the story held my attention. I smiled and cried throughout this story. Great job A. L. Jackson!!!

Male narrator choice??

I know they can't necessarily have the same narrator. The new male narrator in book two is on the whiny immature side compared to the first one. Probably bothered me more because I read one right after the other.

I loved this story

I really loved these two books! This was a great sequel! I will look for more books by this author! Although the Male narrator was not the same as the first book, he did a good job. Tanya Eby is a favorite narrator of mine. That is how I came across this author, was by looking for books narrated by Tanya Eby.

Oh Jared.

Reading this book brings me sorrow, pain and joy. I feel the words from my head to my toes. The story of Jared and Ally is a powerful one. Although Jared finds love with Ally, he has to learn to let go of his past. Jared’s past mistakes hold him prisoner, no matter how good his life seems his past catches up to him. Learning to face his mistakes, deal with his demons and accept himself for who he is, that’s the only way Jared can be free. With love and help from Ally, Jared learns that his past mistakes make him who he is, Jared can keep the memories in his heart, it’s ok for him to remember and mourn his loss. Absolutely beautiful but painful in the best possible way.

Sweet Ending

Great follow up to complete the story of Jared and Aly. Just enough angst combined with sweetness.

Bad narration

The story is ok for the young adult it is but what ruins it is when you change narrators from the first book and none of them were that good. When she does the male parts it's like nails on a chalkboard to me I don't why it just is. I really like all the other books by this author in audible.

loved the story

Sean Crisden was not so great. His female voice and even his male voice were whiny. Tanya did a better male voice than Sean did! The story was such a torturous love story and a wonderful story of guilt and redemption.
