Helpful Alternative Perspectives

The book presented me with alternative perspectives on ADD that I have found really helpful.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to deepen their understanding of how to function with ADD (for themself or someone else).

Not the revised edition

Don't get me wrong! Great research by a great expert, it's just out of date by now and there is a revised and updated version already in print! I find this more than a little irritating on Audible/Amazon's part.

An understanding of ADD in all corners of life

I first want to say that the narrator, John McDonough, has one great and entrancing voice. When first listening to the book I thought it was a bit slow. So, I decided to set it at x1.25 the normal speed and found it to be perfect. I'm glad that he spoke at that speed because when it came to reading the last chapter, I found it hard to keep up with all the brain terminology and had switched it to his regular speed. Hat's off to John for giving every sentence the oral attention it needs to get not only the words across, but the whole context as well. Great job, John McDonough.

Just finding out ADD recently with a psychiatrist on holiday soon after, I found this book perfect for helping me dive into what issues I had with my ADD. It is extremely informative, but not in a boring way to say the least. I guess I'm not totally sure on whether it was my ignorance that intrigued me to learn more or the actual content. Despite this, I would recommend this to any person wanting to harness their ADD.

Out of order

The chapters are all over the place. I heard chapters 5 and 8 before 4 for example. Still good overall. It doesn’t really affect comprehension.

The best ADD ADHD book

As the parent of a son with ADHD I have read lots of books on the subject, lots of articles, and listened to several podcast as well as live lectures. This book is the most comprehensive of any that I have come across to describe and help understand the many facets of ADHD. I have to say, that when I come across Adhd material that is really good I realize that the apple does not fall far from the tree. As I listened to this book I was again reminded of all of the ways it applies to my life. I have never been formally diagnosed but I realize as an adult now that I have dealt with these symptoms all my life. Thankfully I am highly functioning but this book shed light on my own challenges as well.

Super helpful

if you suspect you have ADHD, listen to this book at 1.25 speed and you may find yourself gasping in recognition as symptoms and real life stories of people with ADHD are discussed. This book contains a lot of helpful ideas for coping with an ADHD brain. I found it helpful and engaging, but I had to listen to it faster... because I have ADHD.

Informative

As a recent diagnosed neurodivergent person, this book was amazing and really informative! It opened my eyes and it shined a light as to what I was suffering my whole life of without knowing. I highly recommend this book.

That book will show you the light in the tunnel

This book was a true eye opening for me. I can’t stop thinking how my life could be like if only I got this book earlier in my life.
This book will safe my daughter from going through what I went through. I feel like I won a lottery
