Publisher's summary

Framed for a double murder, Delta Force operative Cameron Moore is given a new lease on life by the CIA - provided he pays them back by doing their black ops dirty work. But now Cam is ready to renegotiate the deal, and he thinks he's found the perfect bargaining chip: Skylar Slavin, bestselling author of espionage thrillers and the daughter of the CIA man who saved CAM from a prison sentence.

Skylar has been living in anonymity, never suspecting that someone so dangerous - and so desirable - would plunge her into a world as treacherous as one of her spy novels. But how can Cam go through with his plan to kidnap Skylar when just the sight of her sets off an explosive attraction he's never experienced before? And when Skylar falls prey to an even more perilous threat, this special ops soldier must call upon all his combat skills to protect the one person who can help him win his freedom - and the only woman he's ever loved.

Two For One

I've read this series, and the performance of the audiobook was well done. I suggest reading them all, and in order. Tyler has become a go-to author for me and I hope more of her work becomes available as audiobooks. She is always generous with her HEAs. Each book will follow two couples who's stories intertwine.

Great series!

If you're into Suzanne Brockmann and Robyn Carr, then you should definitely love this series. Maybe it's just me, but this 1st book, started a little slow. To be fair though, when I say "started", I mean only the first 2 chapters. Then everything was off and running! Each book in the series gets better and better! Great narration by Johanna Parker! Johanna Parker Is simply one of THE BEST!

This story has been told already

Three years ago, I would have loved this book, but it is so similar to other books in the genre that I did not like it. Technically, the author can write, but she doesn't rely on her own creativity to tell a story. It is as though she sat down with a check list of romantic-suspense elements and stuffed them into one book:

Protagonist who is a mystery writer. Check.
Protagonist who insists on putting herself in danger. Check.
Protagonists fall in love instantly, but lack mutual trust. Check.
Protagonists on the run. Check.
Graphic bedroom scenes. Check.
Overly dramatic dialog. Check.
Characters with tortured pasts. Check.
Evil guys are really, really evil. Check.

The performer's skill made it possible to finish the book, but I will avoid this writer in the future. In fact, I will avoid this genre all together - it's worn itself out.

Story was lacking but Johanna makes up for it.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes to someone who enjoys a little smut and not much else ;)

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It had a few twists in the story but it was pretty easy to figure out. Predictable.

Have you listened to any of Johanna Parker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

YES! I chose this because she is the narrator. She is superb!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Naw.

Excellent Romantic Suspense

Cameron Moore and Skylar Slavin are adult children — survivors, really — of hardcore black ops agents. I found this premise a fascinating one and Tyler fulfilled its promise, exploring a little known lifestyle with compelling results. Both Cam and Sky had horrific childhoods as a direct result of their parents’ secretive undercover work.

Johanna Parker’s narration is exactly right. I heard (and liked a lot, thank you very much) Cam’s lusty, sexually adventurous nature that makes him a caring and generous lover. Parker doesn’t significantly differ Cam’s voice from all those other guys with “Future Hero” stamped on their foreheads, but that would have been a big challenge indeed, and not truly necessary. Happily, there’s no doubt that Cam is the Alpha of his own book. Parker’s female characterizations have more variety and Skylar sounds just as she should. I’ve been enjoying Parker’s narration throughout the Shadow Force series. She gets the grittiness as well as the tenderness and I think she’s an ideal narrator in the romantic suspense.

Good story with hot sex

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I enjoyed this book due to the twists and turns this books takes you to. The love scenes are hot and the characters keep you interested. Smart woman, hot military men what a combination. This books contains two couples that are connected by the storylines, finishing up with the start of a third couple. The story definetely leaving you wanting more. I enjoyed the narrator which is a deal breaker for me. The narrator was able to do well with the various male and female characters. If you are looking for action and love, this book has it.

Ugh... is it over yet...?

What could Stephanie Tyler have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Move things along a bit faster. There was too much back and forth and angst and it happened with two separate couples. I was just too bored to care about halfway through.
