Peter is quick, daring, and full of mischief—and like all boys, he loves to play, though his games often end in blood. His eyes are sparkling gold, and when he graces you with his smile you are his friend for life, but his promised land is not Neverland.

Fourteen-year-old Nick would have been murdered by the drug dealers preying on his family had Peter not saved him. Now the irresistibly charismatic wild boy wants Nick to follow him to a secret place of great adventure, where magic is alive and you never grow old. Even though he is wary of Peter's crazy talk of faeries and monsters, Nick agrees. After all, New York City is no longer safe for him, and what more could he possibly lose?

There is always more to lose.

Accompanying Peter to a gray and ravished island that was once a lush, enchanted paradise, Nick finds himself unwittingly recruited for a war that has raged for centuries—one where he must learn to fight or die among the ""Devils,"" Peter's savage tribe of lost and stolen children.

There, Peter's dark past is revealed: left to wolves as an infant, despised and hunted, Peter moves restlessly between the worlds of faerie and man. The Child Thief is a leader of bloodthirsty children, a brave friend, and a creature driven to do whatever he must to stop the ""Flesh-eaters"" and save the last, wild magic in this dying land.

most of Broms books seem to follow the same plot structure but that in no way means they are dull and boring. the child thief, krampus, and old gods do a great job of mixing together myths and legends into a new story while giving you points of reference. it gives you a way to get inside and fully understand the world that these myths embody. I'm not a smart man and ive got no gift for words but I'm trying....a little.
The child thief amd krampus were great books all around but old God's was by far my fav. try them out and I'm sure you will see what I was trying to vocalize.... especially about the plots

a beautiful entry but far from his best

I lost myself reading this book back in 2010 and was glad to find it in audio book form. It's an amazing book and well worth a credit.
At first I wasn't sure about the narrator the sample was a poorly chosen exert to say the least but once you get into the book itself and away from the prologue he really shines.

Excellent

I loved this from start to finish. Characters are fascinating, plot is well thought out, settings are described beautifully and the entire book is written with style. I really enjoyed the research presented at the end of the book as well. Brom is brilliant and Kirby is one of the most impressive performers I’ve experienced on audible.

Fantastic

The theatrical presentation is great! Heyborne sucks you in with a wide spectrum of voices for many characters. The story is very good and has a broad array of characters and their shortcomings.

what a great performance!

It was well written, very real not holding back any reality from situations and the realistic characters that frustrate you and keep you interested and absorbed into the storyline and characters.

Great Twist on Peter Pan.
