It's an enjoyable listen that I'll return to from time to time. Worth the credit.
Good story from front to back

While some novels of this ilk don't stand up to the "technology test of time" -- written before the proliferation of cell phones and computers -- this one does, for the most part.
Niven and Pourelle's great characterizations make this a wonderfully compelling read, and one that is hard to put down. However, there are a LOT of characters, so it may help to go to a website that allows you to "look inside the book," and print out the beginning pages that list the "Dramatis Personae." Easier to jog your memory on a long listen like this one.
Great listening

Would you try another book from Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle and/or Marc Vietor?
MaybeWould you recommend Lucifer's Hammer to your friends? Why or why not?
I will, if they can persevere the boredom of the first halfWhat does Marc Vietor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brought the intensity to the story especially when the story itself was flat!Any additional comments?
As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the first half of the story was simply dragging. The writers spent far too much time in character development which, when you look at it, wasn't all that necessary. I got the book to read more about the dystopian world, what I got was more of the back story of the characters, and what it seemed like, lasted for more than half the book. But I don't want to say that the story was all bad, I liked it when it finally picked up after the hammer struck the earth. I liked the story even more when the writers finally portrayed the end of the world scenarios.Pre-hammer fall was too long and too boring
