Publisher's summary

After months of silence, here she stands on my front porch, waiting to be let in again. But it's the same play every time, and I know how this ends - I give her all I have, and she carries it with her on the way back to him.

I should turn her away, but I won't. Couldn't do it if I tried.

Because no matter how many times she pops back up, pulls me in, and drags me under, it will never be enough. I'll always want more. More of her. More for us.

And she'll always choose him.

Contains mature themes.

I couldn’t put it down!

Welp! I stayed up all night listening to this one. Such a beautiful story. It hit on a lot of sensitive issues but ended in a HEA- beautiful.

Powerful romance, powerful story

So glad I read fumbled hearts first and this after. Both were so good and I’m glad we still got to see just as much of the main characters of fumbled hearts than we did of this books characters. I didn’t know if I could like this book more than fumbled hearts but it is truly such a powerful storyline. Makes you put yourself in the shoes of multiple characters and question what you would do in those situations. Loved it, can’t wait to read “say you swear” now.

Interesting...

Ok, this is heartless, but my opinion...⚡️⚡️⚡️SPOILER⚡️⚡️⚡️ newlyweds should've gone, not Peyton's guy (innocent)!! Parker & Kenra horrible match. Kenra's character is a weak, pathetic, stupid girl. Parker deserves better. Listened to several of Alexander Candese's audiobooks & have not gotten used to his overly excited narration.

I absolutely loved this story!!! I’m now curious if there’s going to be a 3rd +++ book coming out soon and if so when?!?!?

PARKER (Hero)

We meet Parker Baylor in Fumbled Hearts so I recommend listening to that first to get a backstory on some amazing characters that overlap into Defenseless Hearts. Can’t forget Lolli! Parker is the kind of selfless, loyal, patient, wears his heart on his sleeve type of guy & is in love with the one girl he can’t have. Kendra struggles with trying to do the right thing & hurting everyone in the process including herself. Is there a happy ending? This story is definitely a grab your tissues in more ways than one but well worth the listen! Thank you Meagan Brandy for another amazing story you never disappoint!

“I want to take all the bad away”

This is Parker and Kendra’s book who we first meet in Fumbled Hearts. While it can be read as a standalone I do suggest reading in order as there are spoilers and you will enjoy the side characters more.

This book hurt, a lot! You will fall in love with Parker, be angry with Kenra, cry a lot and then actually get an HEA that will feel good but still leaves the scars behind. I could deal with the angst but it is very sloowwww burnnnn.
Overall written really well and went through all the emotions! I wish we could get more of them, maybe a novella living their HEA as we spent so much time watching them in pain ❤️‍🩹

We meet Payton (Parker's little sister) and man, cue the tears that’s all I can say 🤧. Can’t wait for when we eventually get her story.

Ari and the crew are introduced and you can move on to Say You Swear to read her book.

CJ and Alexander did an amazing job with narration really handling all the emotions so well 👏🏽

I wanted to like it

I was so bored with this book. Kenya was so weak and strung Parker along (which whom I loved) and I couldn't take anymore. I skipped about 10 chapters in the middle of the book. The end was exciting but the rest was so bland. I really liked the first book

Lots of crying

I love this author. But this is probably my least favorite book of hers. I like the other little story lines that go along in this book. However I’m not a fan of weak heroine. Every chapter she is crying...every single one...it’s annoying. Story kinda drags on, you figure out she’s protecting/hiding a secret early on within the first couple of chapters then lots of fluff and dragging it out. I feel like I could have skipped the majority of the middle chapters and go straight to the end and not miss anything.
