I have read the entire series and love the spin off. It reminds me of watching The Originals and now watching Legacies on The CW.

I guess I should start off by saying possible SPOILER ALERTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Connor invites Elisa to a shifter initiation that should be a straight forward event right ? Wrong ! Along the way they discover each other more as Elisa is introduced to the inner workings of shifter clans and politics. The relationship between Connor and Elisa is growing as well as the beast within Elisa. They discover that all is not as it seems within the Clan. The death of a young shifter female and rumors about a beast that is stalking the territory has all members of the clan on edge. Connor and Elisa run smack into a schism within the clan between the elders and the younger members. As Connor and Elisa investigate they find themselves on a path of lies and ultimate abuse of power with the clan . Not to mention the obstacles thrown in their path especially one by the name of Miranda along with the clan Elders. Events come to a head as Elisa is forced to make a decision that she can never undo and the clan may never forgive or accept. As Connor tries to defend Elisa he is becomes bound to this clan and placed in a position that secrets will be revealed. I love this series and can't wait for the next book. I definitely would recommend this series to anyone who loves vampires and shifters and the other paranormals in between. The narrator was very good. I usually buy the book and get the audio version so that I don't have to miss a thing. I have to admit that this time I only read a few pages and just listened to narrator wrap me up in this awesome story.

I think the best sign for me of a good book is one where I personally would want to live in the world and be among the characters. That is growing more and more true with these two characters, who I still hope to become more a larger consistent group - more and more consistency of their friends and family would be great. While I didn’t love Ethan as a love interest, he is a great dad. Likewise with Merritt. I like the protagonist’s strength and Connor’s confidence - and of course their care and not cockiness. I like all the main-ish characters’ confidence and strength. It makes for a great group of people. It’s horrific what lack of confidence, insecurity, and care can wrought, as we see IRL. It’s why I’m using these fantasy books as an escape. Not all the fantasy books make me feel as warm and fuzzy as these first two have. Will definitely be reading on, and when they become unavailable will consider for purchase to re-read over and over. Maybe the only thing missing is more humor. I don’t laugh enough while listening, which is what keeps them at a 3.5 - 4 than solid 4 or 5.

These two kids are growing up and learning they are the perfect compliments to each other. Just like all of the Chicagoland books this is a story you don't want to stop listening to. What's next as for the prince and princess as they learn to deal with the politics and people from both groups.
