Charles Dickens' classic novel stars Alex Jennings as Charles Dickens and Pauline Quirke as Mrs Boffin. Adapted by Mike Walker. Following his father's death, John Harmon returns to London to claim his inheritance. But he finds he is only eligible if he marries Bella Wilfer. To observe her character he assumes another identity and secures work with his father's foreman, Mr Boffin, who is also Bella's guardian. Our Mutual Friend was Charles Dickens' last complete novel and is a satiric masterpiece about money. This complete Woman's Hour Drama, which contains all 20 episodes, was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2009.

I live in Caldwell IDAHO
"darkness, with grasping greediness lose."
I love the way the way it is juxtopposed with Dickens's other books. The way it is so dark with sunshine just behind the darkness. The language is so beautiful and lyrical it is easy to listen to and it fleshes out the storyline. I also love the way Dickens writes so that his readers can see the people and places in his book. The man was a genius!
There are so many memorable moments that it is hard to write down just one. I guess it would be when Mr. Boffin was pulled into the morass of his own greed.
They each had voices that changed with the individuals that they represented, not only that, they expressed the joy, fear, anger or hatred that was expected.
This was a book I wanted to listen to in one sitting however I restrained myself.
This is a very enriching book, get it you'll enjoy it.
