Dante the necromancer is the most reviled man in Sabria, indicted by for crimes against the living and the dead. He salves bitterness with a magical puzzle - a desperate soldier's dream of an imprisoned sorceress and a faceted glass that can grant one's utmost desires. But the dream is a seductive trap. Haunted, blind, driven to the verges of the world, Dante must risk everything he values to unravel a mystery of ancient magic, sacred legend, and the truth of the divine.

This Dante reader acted like he was reading to a 3 year old with no standards.

I have long adored the way Carol Berg twists her plot in unexpected ways. She puts her characters through so much but usually rewards them for perseverance. This one just felt like it plodded along without relief and to be honest I let my mind wander a few too many times. I did like the way the story jumped from one location to another and gave us glimpses of what the different groups were doing.

I struggled with this one

I loved the story. The captivating way it was told had me spellbound from beginning to end.

One reader spoke a little too slowly for my taste. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars all the way across.

Captivating!

If your player allows it, reset the speed for Dante's character to double speed. Not a perfect solution but it does help.

Set Dante's character to 2x speed!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Daemon Prism to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Daemon Prism?

The climax is good, and the conclusion was excellent.

Would you be willing to try another one of Angele Masters and David DeVries ’s performances?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

David is a great reader but he was the wrong choice for Dante. Aside from the minor annoyance of sounding too old, he sounded FAR too cheery throughout the whole book as he reads the part of a very unpersonable character who is tortured (by himself and others) throughout the book. There was no anger, which is probably the single most defining quality of the character.

Great book, wrong reader for Dante
