Best known to the world as the actor who created the legendary Mr. Spock in the cult television series that launched the Star Trek phenomenon, Leonard Nimoy has written the definitive Star Trek memoir. In this long-awaited autobiography, Nimoy opens up to his fans in ways the Vulcan never could.

Having played the pivotal role of Mr. Spock in the original series, in six motion pictures, and in a special two-part episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as having directed two of the movies, Nimoy is well suited to tell the true story behind what was seen by the public. He provides an intelligent and insightful book about the creative process and the actor's craft - and gives his own unique insider's view of the creation of both the character, Mr. Spock, and the Star Trek phenomenon.

Was a fun listen, always comforting to hear Nimoys voice and his almost delusional rants with Spock.
focuses mainly on his Star Trek feelings and work and little of his general biography. Good for ST fans and Nimoy/Spock admirers.

In honor of Spock & Nimoy, lend them an ear.

Leonard Nimoy does an amazing job telling his story and sharing his perspective toward the show in which he starred. Hearing his voice as the story's narrator is itself comforting to me on some level, and the discourse which he maintains between himself as a man and Spock in Character are both eloquent and beautiful.

I would nevertheless be remiss if I did not mention that this book, published in the 90's overlooks one last thing worthy of mention: that Star Trek VI was, while presenting a superb sense of closure for Spock's character, not destined to be his final exit. The reboot of the series would ultimately give Leonard Nimoy one more chance to take his place on the big screen in the 21st century, more than a decade after this book was released.

He would live on to render one of the most incredible performances of his Star Trek career in Star Trek XI as the aging, patriarchal Spock who passes on his wisdom to a younger, different version of himself.

Ultimately, this is a tale of logic blended flawlessly with what it means to be human; of the constant struggle to discover peace, the undiscovered country; of friendship, and of the effort of one man to balance during the course of his life the needs of the many who he touched proportionately alongside the needs of himself, the one who made it all possible.

In the words of the Vulcan: "Fascinating."

A Terrific Testament to a Star Trek and Mr. Nimoy

I have listened to this twice now and the only thing I can say that would be if there was an added afterward with his thoughts on the reprisal of Spock in the nee movies.

Thanks to this book I can honestly say when I see Spock now I will always see Leonard Nimoy as well and miss both of them.

Amazing

I wish I could have met Mr. Nimoy before his passing. What a brilliant individual.
Anyway, this book is about him and his time playing the character of Spock. It's both well written and performed.
Highly recommend.
