Assassin Artemis Entreri whisks his kidnapped victim, Regis the halfling, south to Calimport and into Pasha Pook's vengeful hands. If Pook can control the magical panther Guenhwyvar, Regis will die in a real game of cat and mouse.

Using an enchanted mask, dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden hides his heritage and races with the barbarian Wulfgar to save their light-fingered friend. An unexpected ally arrives just as Entreri springs a trap. But can Regis survive unscathed?

The companions from Icewind Dale battle pirates on the famed Sword Coast, brave the deserts of Calimshan, and fight monsters from other planes to rescue their friend…and themselves.

Victor Bevine should be fired

I absolutely love all of Salvatore's novels, particularly his Drizzt books, but please get rid of Victor Bevine. This guy is totally clueless when it comes to pronouncing the English language and his sultry voice cannot imitate anything remotely evil or tough sounding. To the editor for failing to catch all the incorrect pronunciations, look up "macabre", and OMG, every time I hear Bevine say "short lived" I literally scream out "it's LIVED you moron" , you should be fired for not doing your job... both of you took a great book and made it stupid because of your combined ignorance

excellent

Awesome book, but if the narrator does not learn the difference between alive, live and lived im going to lose my mind.

performance one word grates

lived is not a hard word to read in English and unless i pronounce it wrong myself it hurts to hear him read it so... but i love the books love the voices of the characters the the feel. that word alone is my only gripe for what is other wise a perfect book.

Magnificent end to the Trilogy

Frankly, after starting with the Dark Elf Trilogy, I was having a hard time enjoying the first two books in this trilogy. While they had heir moments, I found myself getting bored and feeling they were rushed. However, this entry was amazing. Really hooked me from the start. My only real complaint is the mispronunciations of a few common words, which were more of an annoyance than anything.

Great ending to the trilogy! One narrator gripe :/

What did you love best about The Halfling's Gem?

The characters really make the story. The core characters and their interpersonal relationships, while questing in the Forgotten Realms, are just about classic fantasy now. Who doesn't like Drizzt?

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Halfling's Gem?

When the story was taken to one of the lesser planes. The description of another plane of existence was spot-on...very good.

Any additional comments?

The third installment of The Icewind Dale Trilogy was a fun listen, although standard fantasy storytelling - no Game of Thrones type political backstabbing or shady plots...it's great D&D. I rate both the story and the narrator together, so I had to bring it down a notch. The narrator has an aggravating way of whispering during most of the book. His voices and cadence were fine, I just wish he would speak in a normal tone.

Subtitle "Wulfgar: Camel Puncher"

Another great book by R.A. Salvatore. This addition to the series introduces a few more characters that will play major roles in future novels. Absolutely full of the swirling blades of Drizzt, and many moments where you may find your self cheering for Companions of the hall, along with some comedy thrown in. In short great great great if you read the first 2 or 5 books your probably already all in, but if you haven't read them I recommend reading Homeland , Exile, Sojourn, The Crystal Shard, Streams of Silver, in that order before you read this one, unless you want to skip to the camel punching then get this one first.

Rumblebelly's troubles.

A bit slow to start, but once the action adventure starts it is one heck of a ride. This is part 3 to the trilogy, but really the story starts with Drizzt's Homeland book. I have enjoyed the dark elf stories and anticipate completing all the books. My brother recommended this fantasy to me and I am glad I listened to him. Narrator does a good job.
