Resumen del Editor

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER •

Taking place nearly a century before the events of A Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms compiles the first three official prequel novellas to George R. R. Martin’s ongoing masterwork, A Song of Ice and Fire.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY LOS ANGELES TIMES AND BUZZFEED

These never-before-collected adventures recount an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living consciousness. Before Tyrion Lannister and Podrick Payne, there was Dunk and Egg.

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Praise for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

“Readers who already love Martin and his ability to bring visceral human drama out of any story will be thrilled to find this trilogy brought together and injected with extra life.”—Booklist

“The real reason to check out this collection is that it’s simply great storytelling. Martin crafts a living, breathing world in a way few authors can. . . . [Gianni’s illustrations] really bring the events of the novellas to life in beautiful fashion.”—Tech Times

“Stirring . . . As Tolkien has his Silmarillion, so [George R. R.] Martin has this trilogy of foundational tales. They succeed on their own, but in addition, they succeed in making fans want more.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

“Pure fantasy adventure, with two of the most likable protagonists George R. R. Martin has ever penned.”—Bustle

“A must-read for Martin’s legion of fans . . . a rousing prelude to [his] bestselling Song of Ice and Fire saga . . . rich in human drama and the colorful worldbuilding that distinguishes other books in the series.”—Publishers Weekly

Naughty Dog's postapocalyptic video game The Last of Us is a masterclass in storytelling. Celebrated for its complex ruminations on grief, morality, and redemption, this unique take on dystopia has maintained a steady fanbase since 2013. That following is set to grow following the debut of HBO's television adaptation—a breakout hit that sacrifices none of the emotional stakes or brilliant character work of its source material.

Not as good as Game of Thrones, but still good.

A stand-alone prequal by author of 'Game of Thrones'.

Set in the same world the GoT series (about 100 years earlier). It follows the story of a single set of characters only. There is less depth here than in previous books, but it does stand alone quite nicely. There is very little correlation to the other books in series, except minor periphial occurances.

"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is very much a pastoral fantasy replete with knights and jousts, and honor from ashes, etc...
If this sort of thing appeals to you, then I can highly recommend this book.

A must have

These stories were great even when GRRM creates stories on a smaller scale than ASOIF it's filled with intrigue and clever plot twists that keep me coming back for more. I can't wait to hear for the rest of these tales.

One bad thing, not with the stories but with this narrator. Mostly solid performance but occasionally he does this mumbling whisper for Dunk's internal monologue that is pretty difficult to understand. Not a huge deal but I had to keep going back and crank the volume up just to hear it. Other than that I really like this narrator and wish he would've narrated ASOIF rather than Roy Dotrice.

Good story bad narrator

Entertaining story. Fills in some gaps in the asoiaf storyline and Dunk the Lunk is a very likeable character. This is just the first part in the tale about Sir Dunkin the Tall. Some parts are drawn out and i dont think a single character should have multiple books so i was a little dissapointed that this will take up so much time to write since this book was just an introduction to the character and Martin has created a world which id love to know more about on a broader scale. Only real complaint for the purchase though is the narrator. He has 2 voices....the main character (which is a pleasant voice) and then he gives almost everyone else this incredibly annoying shrilly whining voice. He also whispers often in parts and screams in others, making volume adjustment a constant necessity.

A lively and colorful reading

This is my favorite reading of this book. The voices and tone are a perfect match to GRRM’s detailed story and characters . Harry Lloyd’s voice is on the soothing but entertaining side. I hope he reads the next Dunk and Egg sequels.

Great story, quiet reader

Story was good but the narrator talks under his breath and mumbles quite a bit. Hard to hear with ear bud turned all the way up.

loved it!

this is my first audiobook listening and I really enjoy it. I think the narrator does a great job with the voices of the different characters and I always expect good stories from one of the best fantasy writers from our time

Poor Sound Recording

They lowered the volume to indicate when Dunk is thinking to himself, a nice ideal but very annoying when it’s to low to hear.

Unparalleled performance

Harry Lloyd delivers an incredible performance you won't soon forget. His ability to bring these characters to life will keep you listening longer than you had planned. You'll be quoting him for days after you finish. "Dunk the Lunk, thick as a castle wall."
