Publisher's summary

In this smart, relevant psychological thriller, a woman cop is on the hunt for a killer while battling violent secrets of her own.

“My name is Nina Karim. I am a single 31-year-old woman who likes cats, Ryan Reynolds movies, beautiful sunsets, walking on a wintry beach holding hands with a tall, caring, lightly bearded third-wave feminist."

“Yeah, right.”

Nina is actually a tough Queens detective with a series of cold-case homicides on her desk - men whose widows had the same alibi: They were living in Artemis, a battered women’s shelter, when their husbands were killed.

Nina goes undercover into Artemis. Though she is playing the victim, she’s anything but. Nina knows about violence and the bullies who rely on it because she’s experienced it in her own life.

In this heart-pounding thriller, Nina confronts the violence of her own past in Artemis where she finds solidarity with a community of women who deal with abusive and lethal men in their own way.

For the women living in Artemis, there is no absolute moral compass. There is the law, and there is survival. And, for Nina, who became a cop so she could find the man who murdered her father, there is only revenge.

Hard to stick with but worth it

This book took the longest time ever to wrap everything together and make sense to me. But once it did tie things together and it was the last hour or two, I really enjoyed it. I’m curious if there is a part two or if there will be a part two now.

Revenge

Violent wife beaters are being killed. By who? The battered wives are at a 'sketchy ' shelter during tbe murders. The one who appears guilty is close but invisible.

Excellent Suspense!

You Can Go Home Now is a very entertaining suspense with a great twist at the end.
The protagonist is a detective working undercover. She’s investigating a women’s shelter. While living at the shelter a few of the exceptionally abusive husbands have turned up dead. The women have the shelter as an alibi and none will speak about the shelter and once their partner is dead they are told that they can go home. Are the people running the shelter killing these husbands to keep the women safe? But the investigator has her own ghosts and her motives aren’t completely legitimate either.
There are some graphic gratuitous sex scenes that added nothing and could have been left out. Please understand that I am not a prude and have no problem with sexual content when it adds to the story.
Sophie Amoss does a wonderful job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
