Publisher's summary

Marshal Will Fain and Deputy Marshal Isum Wood track an escaped murderer who has escaped from the Santa Angela jail with the help of his brothers. They defend the Fain Ranch against a vengeful posse from Fort Griffin intent on murdering Will and Isum, uncover a four-state counterfeiting operation headquartered in San Antonio, and track down one of Texas' most famous bank robbers, Jim Bob Winslow. Will and Isum refuse to recognize the border between Texas and Mexico, and go into Mexico to capture four of the toughest and most murderous outlaws ever known in Texas. Marshal Fain testifies many times in the counterfeiting trial and attends the hanging of Winslow and his gang. During this action, Will's wife, Virginia, gives birth to twin boys, Jesse and Joshua, and Will gains new respect and love for her.

My new favorite western writer

Great and unique western story that deals with specifics in The background that is unique to traditional books of this genre. The sections with his visit to the gun and binocular factories and training are the best. I like the business like aspects of the marshall especially when he deals with money, lawyers and bankers. He is astute with money and developing a prosperous life with ranching, horses and getting the bad guys etc. Will Fein is a classic good guy in many ways with family, horses and people. I love westerns because they are entertaining and you always get the satisfaction of finishing the book fast. The narrator is perfect and enjoyable unlike some others that distract or annoy. Please give us more Mr. Lane, you are a great writer:-). One final suggestion, please get your kindle books to sync with audible immersion, whisper sync etc. I love to use all of the wonderful Amazon reading features.

I Loved This Book

It’s everything this woman wants in a western. It’s not too violent, or graphic. And the hero does good things for people.
I highly recommend this book when you want a lighter kind of Western Expansion reading/listening. There’s less violence than Johnstone, L’Amour, Grey etc… and lots more dealing with women.
Lane has created a world that’s less painful; it’s also a bit less meaty. Sometimes I had a hard time staying focused and I needed to repeat.
I’m ready to listen to his next book.

Will Fain US Marshal

This is one of the best books I've listened to in a while. Will Fain handles problems the way I like to see them handled. This book is full of adventure and action. Gunfights outlaws everything you could want in a western. There is a little clean romance. Will meets the love of his life. Will is getting set up in this first book . A.T. Chandler does an excellent job narrating this book. This is my first book by R. O. Lane. I love his writing style. My opinion this book is perfect. Classical western in the quality of Loui Lamoor. I forgot how much I appreciate a good western.

Loved this story!

I came across this book and gave it a try. It’s a feel-good Western, with a little history mixed in. I like that it isn’t horribly violent. I absolutely love A.T. Chandler as a narrator.
