Publisher's summary

As the heiress of my family's ranch and a rodeo star, I've always embraced a lifestyle of speed and daring. That was until Dusty Brooks, the embodiment of the rugged cowboy, sauntered back into town. He's all swagger and charm, the kind that tempts a wild heart like mine, sparking an old rivalry that's much more than mere competition. Our radio confrontations are intense, reminiscent of a prairie fire at its peak.

But everything changed when Dusty stepped in to shield me from a questionable teammate. That's when my heart took an unexpected turn, leading to a moment of stolen passion beneath the expansive Wyoming sky. It was supposed to be fleeting, but our hearts had a different plan, entwining our destinies together.

Life, however, has a way of becoming complicated. Now, I find myself grappling with new challenges at the ranch while a literal and figurative storm kicks up the dust around Lazy J. The ranch life is more than just rodeo triumphs and romantic moonlit rides—especially when your cowboy comes with a complicated history.

As a single mother, I'm focused on raising my daughter, Bella, who sees in Dusty the hero she's been yearning for—a potential father figure. Here, among the wide-open spaces of the ranch, dreams have room to grow, and love finds a place to take root in the most unexpected places.

In navigating the realities of my life, it seems I've found my forever cowboy. But with the shadows of our past and the turbulence of our present swirling around us, the lingering question is whether Dusty and I can lasso the chaos and ride off into our happily ever after.

Excellent story!

Dusty Brooks and Laura Johnson are lifelong rivals on the rodeo circuit. He partners with his sister, Emily, and Laura with ranch hand, Rowdy Gates. What Dusty doesn't want to acknowledge is that he's a little more than interested in Laura. His brothers like to give him a bad time about his loner status and they make him a bet that he won't, in any way, get together with Laura. Laura has come home with her daughter, Bella, to Lazy J Ranch to help her parents as they near retirement. The rivalry between Dusty and Laura comes back to life as they prepare for the next rodeo and after saving Laura from Rowdy's advances, the passion between them sizzles. When it seems that everything is falling into place Dusty, Laura and Bella, Dusty's ex shows up and threatens their happiness. There was a moment of panic when his ex showed up because I was disappointed in Dusty's inner thoughts. I began to doubt the feelings he had for Laura, especially when he made the ex a priority. He temporarily lost a little of his luster, but he was back to himself by the end of the story. It's well-written with believable and likeable characters, and I can't wait to read Connor's book!
