Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author and beloved Today show coanchor Hoda Kotb - inspiring stories of people who find their life's purpose in unexpected ways, often surprising themselves and the ones they love most.

Most of us wonder what we're doing. We float around in the glass half empty, gaze out into the world of possibilities, and wonder if we should get off of our raft and climb out. Maybe even today you asked yourself: Is it too late to do that thing that made me so happy when I was young? Could what matters most to me finally be the center of my life? Can I really trust this yearning voice in my head and longing in my heart? Do I feel like I'm where I belong?

In this incredible collection of stories, Hoda Kotb reveals individuals who reached critical points in their lives and suddenly found they were being pulled in completely new directions. By following their passions, their guts, and their hearts, these people learned their life purposes were utterly unlike what they'd planned. From the investment banker who became a minister after years of working in Manhattan to the young woman from a blue-collar background whose passion took her to Harvard Medical School or the high-powered PR exec who found herself drawn to a pioneering residential community, the stories in Where We Belong come from an array of ordinary individuals who have discovered the power of embracing change. Hoda also interviews celebrities, such as actress/producer Roma Downey, comedienne Margaret Cho, and boxer Laila Ali, who have all pursued their passions to find fulfillment.

With examples of perseverance, self-reflection, and new attitudes on life, Where We Belong is a motivating and inspirational look at finding the right path for your personal journey.

good

The stories were great. I noted that those with faith in religion- and not those advertised as celebrities- got the most airtime. I did not know the author before buying - so this may be an obvious link for others.

Nice Little Read

Love Hoda Kotb because of her optimism and strength of character. I admired her grace and the manner in which she supported Kathie Lee Gifford during her time of deep mourning when Frank Gifford died so unexpectedly. So when I saw that Hoda had released this book I immediately purchased it.

I was disappointed. However I should have read about it's content first. It is a selection of five or so stories read beautifully by Hoda herself. These stories are about people, some who have a modicum of celebrity, all who have gone through major life changes. I would call this an 'Opray Life Aha' type of a book.

Not my 'cup of tea' but still really admire Ms. Kotb and look forward to her next book because maybe the next one will be more to my liking. I have no doubt whatsoever that many people will find this book a winner

Am I Where I Belong? Great Question!

Am I where I belong? I don't know . . . And if that's that's true, then the real answer is probably not. This book encourages us to not only ask the question, but to realize it's never too late to move in the direction of our dreams. Absolutely loved the definition of vocation toward the end! That nugget alone was worth the read.

Somewhat boring and mundane

What did you like best about Where We Belong? What did you like least?

I liked that it showed us that we are where we belong on our life's journey and that we should embrace that, however, I think the stories could have been shorter, more concise.

Would you be willing to try another book from Hoda Kotb? Why or why not?

Probably not.

What three words best describe Hoda Kotb’s voice?

Somewhat monotone.

Could you see Where We Belong being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

NO

Where we belong

I was expecting more about Hoda's journey and strength gained along the journey. It was about others more than I would have expected. I would give it a 4, 1 out of 10.

Took months to finish listening. Boring. Not inspirational as hoped. Love Hoda but unfortunately this wasn't worthwhile.
