Publisher's summary

"I just wanted to be normal, but the day college started a supernatural world opened up. Now I don't know who to trust...or even if I'll survive the night."

A new urban fantasy series from the award-winning screenwriter of ground-breaking BBC TV series Spirit Warriors.

When Marley moves into her dorm at Blackville University, she has classes to sign up for, parties to attend, and an over-protective father to avoid, who, as luck would have it, has just been hired at BU as its newest history professor.

While trying to befriend her roommate, Marley discovers that Cassie might just be the oddest - if richest - girl she's ever known. Then there's Eve, the older girl with a mysterious past who hides her true face under layers of makeup and a bitchy attitude. Thank God for Tyler, who seems nice and has the kind of hair Marley would kill for, or she would think college life was a bust already.

After a disastrous night out ends with them all thrown together for the first time, something happens that no one expected. Something magical. And suddenly they discover they each have been gifted with strange new powers - but why? And who is the mysterious good-looking stranger who seems to know far more than he is willing to tell them?

One thing's for sure: Saving the world has never been this twisted!

Fans of The Mortal Instruments, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Pretty Little Liars will love this thrilling new series!

Written like your favorite CW or Netflix show, expect thrills and heart-thumping romance as well as epic twists and turns that will keep you guessing!

the story of 4 girls discovering their true power

This book leaves me wanting to hear the next. It is a story of 4 girls starting college meeting, and discovering their hidden talents. You fall in love with the characters and all their flaws. The story also keeps you guessing until the very end! A good book that will make you want to hear the rest of the story! The writting is very well done. It makes it easy to envision everything. The narration was very well done as well bringing life and emotion to the characters that were so well written.

A supernatural college horror story series beginning

What Doesn't Kill you is an intense supernatural horror story that, as the beginning of the series (the pilot episode), leaves a lot for future books. This is not a stand alone story. The story is based on and around a college, and the characters have issues that readers can relate to and sympathize with. There was powerful moment in the book that had me thinking of Stephen King's Carrie.

The narrator does a nice job bringing the story to life.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Twisted Book one Good series

Narration is very good. I would listen to Allyson Voller again.
An interesting story about four girls entering college and their experiences. The main characters are interesting. Can't wait to listen to book two. A short story that can be listened to by itself or you can continue with book 2. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great series start

Great start to a series. The author wants this to be a television series, which would be great, but I thought it was fantastic as a book, and would love the series that way as well. If it ever makes it to television, I will definitely be watching. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great start to a promising new series!

What Doesn't Kill You is Book 1 of the Twisted series by Jo Ho. First off, it was a lot of fun and I can definitely tell that Jo Ho has written for the screen before. I can totally see this as a show on the CW or Freeform. This is the story of Marley, a girl who is starting college at Blackville U, which also happens to be the same school where her father is teaching. Anyways, she meets her roommate and a few other people and during one crazy night, she discovers that there's more to the group than they had ever expected! This book was written well and does a good job of introducing the main characters to the listener and really sets things up for the next book in the series. I didn't want it to end!! So just to note, this isn't a book with a cliffhanger, per se, but know that everything won't be all tied up with a shiny bow at the end of this book. It's meant to make you want to listen or read the next book in the series.

Allyson Voller did a good job narrating this first installment of the Twisted series and I think she would be a wise choice for the others to come as well. She does a great job of giving each character a unique voice and adds the perfect amount of emotion while narrating when it's called for. I'm looking forward to listening to her narrate the next books in the series! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Incredible start to a new series!

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Four different girls brought together as they start college find their lives changed forever by what at first appears to be a whim of fate, but turns out to be so much more. Marley is determined to hide her secret and find acceptance in her new school. Cassie may have rich famous parents, but her feelings of in adequacy makes it difficult to fit in. The only thing Tyler hasn’t lost is her sister and she will do anything to keep her safe. Eve will never allow anyone close enough to hurt her again. In spite of their differences, they find within themselves the power to succeed if they can trust in each other. There is more to this story than meets the eye and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

This audiobook was a wonderful start to what looks to be incredible series.

I really loved This 1st book, looking fwd to next!

Story is about 4 girls going to College and 1st day finding their dorm rooms and meet other new students. These 4 main characters are girls that do not fit in with the popular set, considered misfits. They are just girls with backgrounds that caused them to see things differently.
They have never met each other before this 1st day on campus. A wonderful start to a New Series. I highly recommend this series!!
