Publisher's summary

The highly anticipated debut novel from Norman Reedus, acclaimed star of The Walking Dead

“This country wasn’t built on good—only fought for with good intentions.”

Jack’s dying mother told him, “Run and never look back.” He spent his life amassing wealth, but after losing his family, he has no one to share it with. Alone with his demons and a backpack, he heads to South America, where people with nothing teach him what matters.

After thrashing his dog-abusing boss, Hunter learns of his father’s death in a mysterious fire. Biker buddies Nugget and Itch ride with him from North Carolina to California. Stories from his father’s life help ease the struggles of small-town Americans. Hunter discovers a secret past.

Seventeen-year-old Anne flees Tennessee after her older brother attacks her. She whacks him with a skillet and hops a freight to Alabama with her best friend. Living hand to mouth, they build friendships, uncovering something they never had: family.

The Ravaged is a fast-paced, up-in-your-face novel of gritty realism, exploring three different personal quests with eerily parallel outcomes.

Well done Norman, when’s the movie!

Though I don’t quite share MJ Family’s enthusiasm in her review, I do appreciate Norman Reedus as an artist, writer; play actor. “The Ravaged” is an excellent read IF you have “lived the life”; turned the corners these protagonists have and will turn in this story. As a addict in recovery, a Pirate, a hard tail riding outlaw, I was able to get and relate to the entire narrative. Even if a reader has not “lived the life” they can enjoy it thoroughly with an open mind and any prejudice set aside. Excellent listen, not as good as the read though. I received the Hardcover 1st day released and read it in three evenings. Only a good book will take so little time for me to burn through! Three evenings for me is FAST! And! I read three to five books at a time! (ADHD AF with PTSD should be explanation enough!????!) Peace, Papa Ski Bear, Hangtown Ca.

Absolutely loved this!

Amazing story about the spiritual evaluation of three very different, yet very similar people. So much of this hit home something fierce. I hope and wish another will follow!!

I don’t want to be mean to Daryl

I have feelings about this book:

I love Norman Reedus, and his narration is on point, but his writing skills could use some honing. He really likes describing colors by comparing them to other things “his skin was the color of Irish ale” something else was the “hue of an avocado” there were more, but I can’t remember. Then all the stereotypical slang you can imagine is spoken by the biker guy. Despite its flaws, it was written by Norman Reedus damnit and it was impossible for me not to like.

Authors should never narrate

After listening for a while I was so lost in the story. There are no chapter titles, it took me 3 chapters to realize each one was a different POV. Norman has no change in tone, inflection, volume, etc to differentiate characters. I can’t comment on the story at all as I DNF. Might be better experienced as a novel vs audiobook

truly comforting and enjoyable.

I started this audiobook and couldn't stop. I am an enormous fan of Norman Reedus which is why I picked it up, not sure of his literary talent and it was incredible. he has a true knack for story telling as well as narrating. I felt as though he was sitting next to me. I hope he writes and narrates more! I enjoyed the way he told his stories, each different but no problem following each storyline.

Interesting POV's

I struggled at first with the cadence of the reading. switching from 1st, 2nd, and third pov/story line was strange this first couple times around. Once I got the hang of it. and understood there were 3 separate storylines, I absolutely loved all of it. it made sstoryline, Can't wait for next book.

Wow...just wow

An absolutely amazing story and with Norman reading, you are transported directly into the lives of the 3 characters. Very well done and I hope more is written.

Awesome

Very good. Left me wanting more of the characters story. I hope there is a book 2 or even 3 separate books of each main character.
