Publisher's summary

I am. You are. We are Omega.

Six years ago, an alien spacecraft crashed into the remote Nevada desert, releasing a virus that killed one-fifth of the Earth's population.

Molly McManus, whose parents died in the plague, can't forgive the aliens just because they give humanity a few new toys. For Wells Marsden, a computer hacker desperate to atone for his past, the aliens might offer the fresh start he needs.

Both Molly and Wells find themselves, for very different reasons, at the Institute for the Betterment of Humanity - a prestigious facility for gifted youth to learn from the aliens. But when they discover Earth's visitors are not as benevolent as they claim, they must escape the Institute, join a mysterious resistance group known only as Omega, and save humanity from disaster - so long as humanity itself doesn't get in their way.

We Are Omega is a science-fiction adventure featuring hacking, telekinetic powers, giant alien crabs out to control the planet, and two troubled teens who just might be the best hope we have. It's a thundering story for fans of Illuminae, The 5th Wave, and I Am Number Four.

Worth the listen

The story telling was fast pace and captivating. It starts slow but once it picks up you can’t stop listening, and wanting to know more. Also, I enjoyed Arryn’s ability to get into the different characters.

Loved it!

The narration of this audiobook captures your full attention right from the start. The way the characters were narrated with accents and a slight tone change made each of those characters stand out in different ways. The narrator managed to bring each character to life in a special way as well. The constant betrayals and surprises featured in the story itself keeps the reader/listener on their toes. It was a such an enjoyable story.

Exhilarating and Refreshing

Sometimes I like to gamble when it comes to reading books, and I picked this one up, as I'm a fan of Arryn Zech. I was definitely more than just interested after reading the initial plot, and decided to give this a chance. The content Justin Woolley has written within "We Are Omega" blew me away.

"We Are Omega" follows the story of Molly McManus and Wells Marsden. Six years ago, an alien species had invaded Earth. A disease had been spread, twenty percent if the population had died. While the aliens have provided the tools necessary for the survival of the human race, Molly cannot forgive them for what they've done. After sneaking into the 'Institute for the Betterment of Humanity', she meets Wells, an ingenious hacker who was invited to the academy after being released from juvenile detention. Over the course of the story, the two, along with friends they make throughout, uncover a conspiracy run by the institute, which makes them question everything around them.

While it may seem like some run of the mill "dystopian future, YA", Mr. Woolley has made a very intriguing and thorough synopsis that keeps you hooked from the first couple of chapters. The characters are a major plus, as they each have their intricate backgrounds. You get to understand their motivations and feel their emotions as time goes on, which made my heart wrench as they went through their tribulations. I especially love going back and forth for the character POV with each chapter.

The details that are set within the plot are ones that made me curious to know more about these aliens. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the book for this, I completely understand that there's so much going on already that there's no time for that at the moment. I'm just saying that I was intrigued with this species and would love to see where they've come from and where they've gone.

Arryn Zech's performance is one that I greatly enjoyed. I believe she was the best choice for this audiobook as gives each character a different inflection, making it simple to know who is speaking. Along with it, you can feel the brewing emotion in her voice with the personas. I can't wait to see who she collaborates with next.

In the end, while there are a couple of misteps within, as every source of media is bound to have, they don't overshadow the enjoyment I was having. I've already recommended this book to several others, and I'm definitely going to re-read it here soon. I'm also going to be picking up another work of Justin Woolley as well.
