Publisher's summary

In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, long before the beginning of recorded time, there stood the world of Azeroth. Every kind of magical being strode the countryside among the tribes of man, and all was at peace - until the arrival of the demons and horrors of the Burning Legion and their baneful Lord Sargeras, dark god of chaotic magic. Now Dragons, Dwarves, Elves, Goblins, Humans, and Orcs all vie for supremacy across the scattered kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of The Guardians of Tirisfal: a line of champions imbued with godlike powers, each one through the ages charged with fighting a lonely secret war against the Burning Legion.

Medivh was fated from birth to become the greatest and most powerful of this noble order. But from the beginning a darkness tainted his soul, corrupting his innocence and turning to evil the powers that should have fought for good. Torn by two destinies, Medivh's struggle against the malice within him became one with the fate of Azeroth itself...and changed the world forever.

my first wow book. ok to good

It is entertaining, smart ways to portray their story and the magic, the use etc, politics and so forth.
*tiny spoiler alert*
I felt the end was rather anticlimactic, as it does not let you know what will happen ,, but, UK own with this universe I'm guessing there are more books before and after this.

Great story in well narrated!

love that the story finally came to audiobooks would highly recommend is a great story and Ramon De Ocampo does a great job with the read. I never realized just how much the movie changed the story. In the end I still enjoyed both versions the movie and the book lore, the book just makes more sense to what I know from the game.

Wonderful

I thought the narrator did a fantastic job on separating the characters within the story. The way he brought them to life was fantastic and enjoyable. I could not stop listening.

Stay with it through the epilogue. Truly haunting

Would have been a 5 if not for having read and listened to other warcraft lore novels. Best seen as setting up for the future of the story

All around wonderful Adventure/ Mystery/ Lore

This book was one of the first I picked up after being nearly obsessed with Warcaft 3: The Frozen Throne Game and then in Early 2004 starting my Love/ HATE relationship with World of War craft Online. I already had started to build up a huge quantity of Warcraft Lore facts by the time I got my hands on this book and a few others. My guild mate and good IRL friend of mine was an avid reader of fantasy novels and had an Omnibus of this book included with 2 others. Out of the 3 novels, they seemingly saved the best for last. This story will give you deep insights into characters from Warcrafts now past as you stand side-by-side with Khadgar quite a few times while interacting with the massive World/ Game that is World of Warcraft (WoW). So, while I do not play WoW anymore I do still get my fix because as a young man now adult, husband, and father with children of my own I still love to check in on my favorite denizens of Azeroth from time-to-time and go on an adventure or 2 with the characters that I have grown to love, and even in ways admire while I am now producing worlds and characters of my own with my art career. This particular story found its way into my hands at a very difficult point in my life back then and helped to quell the overwhelming sense of dread and anxiety that can come with mental roads blocks.

This particular version of one of my favorite books is preformed very well. Even with it being a semi-deep voiced male vocal-actor he does a decent job of trying to get a woman's voice to manifest through at least enough further audience to know that it is indeed a woman whom may be speaking. His male voices, on the other hand, are amazingly well preformed and add just the right amount of tone and inflection to really drive these characters home for me. I have rereading novel a handful of times and I do believe this will be my forever favorite way to enjoy this classic in the future. So...if you want a cool deep Mystery Adventure staring adept Kirin Tor Mages and Masters, The very SUPER POWERED guardian mage, and towers where there is something new and exciting happening around every seemingly mundane tasks in the tower, and you are curious about some of the deeper Lore that surrounds the Warcraft Universe, then I can go no further than to fully recommend this novel to you. It's a bold, powerful Lore story, with twists and turns abound. I hope you come to enjoy this classic as much as I have in the past and STILL DO today! May God bless you on this journey we call life!

Well Written, Well Voice-Acted!

The story is a more detailed and visual one, with a great story. The voice acting is VERY important to me, and De Ocampo really hits the nail on the head. Brilliant!
