Good cowboy tale!

My first time with this author. U.S. Marshal Arliss “Patch” Elkins is on the trail of a young man named Gus, accused of murdering his parents and setting the house afire. Patch always gets his man, so it’s a short time till Patch has Gus in custody. On the way back to town, Patch and Gus have people shooting at them. Questioning one of the outlaws, it is discovered that Gus’ father has a huge bounty out on both of them. Learning the real story from Gus, Patch finds that it was his uncle responsible for the deaths and the burned down home. It becomes a dangerous cat and mouse game for Patch and Gus to reach town and safety. It’s debatable whether they will survive with half the outlaws in the territory out for their blood. Will they make it? A pretty good short western, and the narrator had a wonderful cowboy-sounding monologue. I only wish it were longer. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
