A great collection of true crime stories

A great collection of true crime stories, this collection of five books covers true crime stories from 5 different states, and is the start of a series intended to cover all the states.

Each crime is succintly presented in about 10 or so minutes, giving you the essential facts of the case, and the outcome, in a clear, consice manner without fluff. You also get the essential hostorical context for the setting of the crime. For each of the first five states there are 10 crimes presented, for California 20 crimes. A lot of these cases were unknown to me beforehand, so you do not only get the famous ones already covered extensively elsewhere.

This audiobook is narrated by the author herself, and she does a admirable job. The narration is clear and easy to follow even on a higher playback speed.

Excellent compilation

Many recent well-told cases, most stories were new-to-me beyond all my other true-crime compilations. The author / narrator's beautiful voice makes each tale sound like a campfire or bedtime story. Crystal-clear annunciation; I could listen to her for days.

Famous and not well known crimes

I enjoyed this audiobook anthology. There were famous or well know crimes but also included were lesser know crimes. The author included serial killers, mass murderers and riots. This audiobook was interesting and engaging. A good listen for beginner true crime aficionados.

A great collection of true crime stories

Ashley Hudson's research and narration are simply outstanding. She truly has the gift of storytelling. Hudson shares true crime stories of the lesser known varieties mixed in with a few higher profile cases such as the Golden State Killer and Cory Morris, the Crackhead Killer. This collection is highly recommended.

Amazing snapshot

I love how the author/narrator covers each crime with just enough details and not too many to get bogged down. The crimes are super interesting. If you like crime I highly recommend this series

True Crime facts without speculation

I heard about this series from a friend and am very impressed with United States of True Crime because, while the stories are rather short (averaging about 15 minutes per case) the author gives all the relevant facts about the victims, offenders, and investigation without dwelling on the gore of the actual grime scene and without inserting her opinion. I have found many true crime audiobooks and podcasts waste a huge percentage of the time giving an opinion from someone who is not a professional in the field, so I respect that this author refrains.

I love the mix of older and current cases. Many I had not heard of and am now excited to do a deeper dive into.

The author's tone is articulate with an appropriate amount of enthusiasm for the genre. It felt reminiscent of a Dateline episode.

I received a free copy of this book and my honest review is that I suggest it to any true crime fans.
