Publisher's summary

"...if I endeavor to undeceive people as to the rest of his conduct, who will believe me?" (Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 40)

Elizabeth Bennet, a rookie counterintelligence officer, lands an intriguing first assignment - investigating the CIA's legendary William Darcy, who is suspected of being a double agent. Darcy's charmed existence seems at an end as he fights for his career and struggles against his love for the young woman he doesn't know is watching his every move. Elizabeth's confidence dissolves as nothing is like she planned - and the more she discovers about Darcy, the more she finds herself in an ever-tightening web of danger.

Unexpected twists abound in this suspenseful Cold War-era romance inspired by Jane Austen's classic tale.

Very well written

I have loved this book since I first read it and the audio was just as good. Very good world building and great characters.

Elizabeth Grace is a gifted storyteller, a natural mimic, and master of accents

One of the most intriguing alternative-era JAFF stories... engaging, smart, and sexy. Author Karen M Cox is a favorite of mine and this novel is proof of why! I loved this book in print, but I think I love it even more in audiobook! Elizabeth Grace is a gifted storyteller, a natural mimic, and master of accents. Easy to recommend this to Austenesque fans but also those who enjoy a little romantic intrigue.

Wonderful Variation!

Quite a different type of P&P variation, but very enjoyable in keeping with the essence of Elizabeth and Darcy. More would be welcome from the author and narrator (great voice).

Undeceived

This was a great modern (circa 1980's) spy thriller, but does not have much in common with P&P. I knew this going in, and really enjoyed the book. I wish it were part of a series!

Intriguing, Modern Pride and Prejudice Variation

Very intriguing storyline that includes most of P&P’s known and loved, and some not-so-loved characters. I really liked the way our dear couple were portrayed. Elizabeth Grace is simply outstanding in her performance of such a varied cast of characters. She truly excels in making both male and female characters very believable. She is one of my favourite narrators.

Pride and Prejudice meets the 80s spy game

Loved this story (read it several times pre audiobook)! Elizabeth Bennet is a new agent working for the CIA and gets assigned to work with experienced agent William Darcy, nicknamed the London Fog, in Prague. While on several assignments in Europe they work closely together with a few close calls. (Keep in mind this is set in the 1980s before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the USSR). Darcy becomes more intrigued by Elizabeth while she deems him arrogant and possibly even treasonous. Their argument in Hunsford and the modern update of Darcy’s letter are well written. My only complaint is I wanted more of Darcy and Lizzy - particularly after they finally work out their issues. The twists and turns to figure out of who is actually the villain is great!! Elizabeth Grace does an amazing job with the voices and accents in this and is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators.
