Publisher's summary

Fire. Ice. Flood.

Three climate disasters.

Four kids fighting for their lives.

Akira is riding her horse in the California woods when a wildfire sparks—and grows scarily fast. How can she make it to safety when there are flames everywhere?

Owen and his best friend, George, like spotting polar bears on the snowy Canadian tundra. But when one bear gets way too close for comfort, do the boys have any chance of surviving?

Natalie hunkers down at home as a massive hurricane barrels toward Miami. When the floodwaters crash into her house, Natalie is dragged out into the storm—with nowhere to hide.

Akira, Owen, George, and Natalie are all swept up in the devastating effects of climate change. They are also connected in ways that will shock them—and could alter their destinies forever.

Amazing Middle School Students Survive Disasters

Three intertwined stories help explain what has happened while Earth is on its way to rising two degrees Celsius in temperature.

As a science teacher I look for ways to help my students understand the world around us and how it changes based on our collective choices. Two degrees helps me and my students understand who and how climate change and rising global temperatures affect everyone.

One of the stories features a dad who disagrees with the idea of climate change and how the family can love and support one another while living in fundamental disagreement.

Love this author

I thought this book was ok I recommend his other books like prisoner B-3087. His is a great story teller but it felt very fake.

A Book of our times

Even though I’m a grandmother I listened to your book. It became a point of contention with the local school board and the One Book, one School choice by the middle school teachers. I and others were appalled that due to a politically minded group of school board members the choice of “Two Degrees” was nixed. I and a group of my peers were appalled that the Superintendent made the decision to go along with the board and not support the teachers’ choice. At least your book is available at the school for any student who chooses to read and inform himself. I learned a-lot from your novel and commend you for it. Thank you! I enjoyed your commentary!

Loved it.

This book made me horrified in the plausibility of the threats the main characters faced. It also ends on a great call to action.

We can all do our part

Such a great way to show kids how they can help our planet and what will happen if we don’t all work together!
