Publisher's summary

A handsome stranger. A dead billionaire. A citywide treasure hunt. Tuesday Mooney’s life is about to change…forevermore.

Tuesday Mooney is a loner. She keeps to herself, begrudgingly socializes, and spends much of her time watching old Twin Peaks and X-Files DVDs. But when Vincent Pryce, Boston’s most eccentric billionaire, dies—leaving behind an epic treasure hunt through the city, with clues inspired by his hero, Edgar Allan Poe—Tuesday’s adventure finally begins.

Puzzle-loving Tuesday searches for clue after clue, joined by a ragtag crew: a wisecracking friend, an adoring teen neighbor, and a handsome, cagey young heir. The hunt tests their mettle, and with other teams from around the city also vying for the promised prize—a share of Pryce’s immense wealth—they must move quickly. Pryce’s clues can't be cracked with sharp wit alone; the searchers must summon the courage to face painful ghosts from their pasts (some more vivid than others) and discover their most guarded desires and dreams.

A deliciously funny ode to imagination, overflowing with love letters to art, from The Westing Game to Madonna to the Knights of the Round Table, Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts is the perfect story for thrill seekers, wanderers, word lovers, and anyone looking for an escape to the extraordinary.

I loved this twisty, lovely tale

Feeling burned out and heavy I was looking for something that was engaging but not fluff. This book with its themes of grief and love with a cool treasure hunt, hit the spot.

Great listen

A little lacking an actual mystery, still a totally great listen. I hope to hear more form this author.

Hmm

I enjoyed the story, mostly because the narrator did a great job! The story started off strong but as it got going, I had a hard time staying focused. I felt as if too much was going on in some areas but not enough in other. The ghost part of it, well I really liked but unfortunately I felt it kind of just left me hanging there. What happened to her friend? I really thought that would be solved and actually thought that was going to be a big part of the story, but it wasn’t. So I guess what im trying to say is that it was good but this definitely had the potential to be so much better.

Solid

The pacing was off-alternating between fast and seemingly going to be exciting and then you are ripped out by an unnecessarily long and extraneously detailed flashback that (for the length) did not make you know more about the character or feel for their story more. The ending was ridiculously predictable. Narrator was fantastic!

The Westing Game, But for Adults

Lovely story and wonderful characters! This book has all you could hope for in a novel: friendship and love, tense thrills, lovable characters (and those slightly detestable, too), lots of great plot that lends to asking open-ended questions, and enough mystery throughout to keep you intrigued, even at the end.

Fantastic Read

Others have said this book was attempting to do too much. I say in return that this is a wonderful thick story that is layered deep. Listen and enjoy!

Ghost story AND treasure hunt? Yes, please!!!

This is a great little mystery and ghost story. I love Lauren Fortgang’s narration.

The characters in the story are all fun to root for! You feel excited for them and what they might find. It was a little slow for me at the beginning, but it picked up and kept me hanging off every word. Great transitions between character POV and all in all, fun to listen to! It’s a great little mix of mess and extravagance, and it has several mysteries and stories all going on at once.

Some of it felt SO intentional—then other parts felt rushed and loose to the story. I would have liked less details in some places and more details in others, but even with that, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes treasure hunts and mysteries!

To many side streets

It might have been a good book if there weren’t so many side streets that did nothing to advance the story. All they did was slow down, confuse and drag out the book without adding any substance to the narrative.

One of the best!

First of all, Lauren Fortgang is absolute perfection. There is nothing I can fault her for as a narrator (and I am picky picky!) so I loved her reading this particular book. It’s a magical story with language that will make you swoon even as it remains accessible. “He smiled at her and she caught it like a cold.” Swoon!! I have a new fave book.
