Publisher's summary

Josiah Redeker has been tied up, tied down, and just plain tied to Bodhi Callahan since the younger marshal was paired with him five years ago. It was an easy slide from partners to best friends, and though Bodhi wanted more, Josiah thought Bodhi could do far better than him. That made for a bumpy ride, and, of course, the moment Josiah realized that trying to live without the man he loved more than anything was not something he could do, that was when Bodhi broke the big news that he was getting married. Adding to that nightmare, they got reassigned as partners because other people needed them more.

It’s a disaster all around, and all Josiah sees ahead of him is pain—and not only from getting shot.

But what he thinks he knows for sure isn’t exactly all there is. Turns out, he’s not the only one who’s missing his touchstone, and Bodhi might be fraying at the edges, coming undone. When two people have been tied together over and over for so long, it’s not so easy to get loose. And maybe neither wants to be free of the other, and that could be their future, as long as no one comes between them… with a gun.

Finally got this book, thank you Ms C

I enjoyed every sentence! The Marshal is one of my favorite series! I missed Miro’s usual voice but narration was outstanding !

I want more!

It was finally great to get Jed and Brody‘s story and the narration was good, but I waited so long I wanted so much more. My true complaint is that it was way too short and resolved way too quickly. I just wanted more.

I miss Josiah’s drawl.

I adore the story in this book. However, I really miss Tristan James narrating it.

Great Addition

We met Jed and Bodhi in a Miro and Ion story. This is written from Jed’s point of view. There were multiple plots, but it all wove together nicely. I was wondering how Mary would get these two together. This story exceeded my expectations. I loved it. And the narration by Nick J Russo was excellent.

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: good pace, entertaining characters, interesting story
I enjoyed getting to know Jed and Bodhi, their story was interesting, the pace was good, the characters familiar. I enjoyed the story and it was nice to revisit the Marshals world after so long.

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoyed Nick J Russo's interpretation of "pre-loved" characters and was happy they still felt familiar. He was a good choice of voice actor for Jed and Bohdi, he suited the characters giving them each their own voice and personality, has good timing, inflections and intonations and bought the story to life.

Positively delightful

Have always been a big fan, but I particularly enjoyed this new book, with many known characters. I found this new story to be interesting, entertaining, and exactly what I needed. A joy to behold!

Very Talented Writing

So many romance books lack great writing and creativity so it’s so refreshing to discover an author that brings a great story to the audience
Combine that story with great narration and you’ve got a winner!!
Nick Russo always does it for me as a narrator.
This is my first read of this author and so glad I stumbled upon it.
My only gripe was the romance was so very far at the end of the story but because she had me so mesmerized through the entire book with her writing style, I got over it.
A credit well used !

The Wait Was Killer!

OMG I've been waiting on this book since these characters were introduced. I loved every moment of it. Literally wdge of my seat mentally slapping them both. Mix in some big bad teddy bear protector moments and swoon!

Great story. Great narration.

We finally get Jed and Bodhi's story! This was a long time in coming, but it was worth the wait. The sweet, intimate, and affectionate relationships that usually appear in Mary Calmes' books are a nice counterbalance to the brutal reality that her characters often experience. This book was packed with both. I enjoyed this story quite thoroughly. Delving back into the history of several of the characters in the Marshals series was a treat. Nick Russo's narration was an excellent fit for this book, and I wouldn't mind if he narrated a few more books in the Marshals series.
