Publisher's summary

No matter the demon, the hunter's role is clear…

A thousand years ago, my great-something uncle founded the Collective, a secret organization dedicated to protecting humanity from demons. The hunter tradition has been passed down over the generations, from parent to child, secure in the knowledge that the Collective is a community of safety and knowledge.

But betrayal sucks, and six years ago, it turned my world—and the Collective—upside down. After generations of deception, the hunters left behind are picking up the pieces and trying something we’ve never done before—working side by side with our enemy.

Demons, just to be clear. They’re apparently “misunderstood,” but the jury is still out on that. And I—a twentysomething archivist with an addiction to hoodies—somehow ended up as liaison to the demon ambassador.

If it sounds like a nightmare, that’s because it is. The demon ambassador is a stuck-up, pretentious twat... not to mention he could kill me with a thought. Worst of all, he’s getting under my skin in ways I never expected. But I’m the only hunter who doesn’t actively want to kill him, so… tag, I’m it.

I’ve already been betrayed by those I should have been able to trust the most. How hard can hanging out with a higher demon be?

I feel like I missed a book

The book overall is great but I feel like I missed another book so many characters and backstory happening I was like who is this character ? But overall the book was a great listen. You can never go wrong when Greg is bringing the characters to life. I’ll be waiting for more books for the series

This book is awesome!

I love Higher Demon so much! This book is so funny and it's so cleverly written. It's serious but also a lot of fun. Marc is a badass, and Ian is so smart. I love them and all their found family. I laughed so much listening to this. Marc is hilarious. It's so cool how everything works out for them. I love how protective Marc is. I cried so much for him and his friend. I love that I got to check on Charlie and Liam from Mr. Romance. I got the biggest heart eyes when I heard that they got married!!
This book is amazing, and I just want more!
Listening to the audiobook Greg Boudreaux was perfect as usual.

Demons and Hunters oh my!

I love this series and so glad we get more. Marc and Ian are co workers of a sort and have to set a good example and prove they can play nice for the sake of the treaty. The mannax crew make appearances and snark and some good laughs follow. Use the credit it was a good listen. As always the narrator was great.

Another Great One

This takes place 6 yrs from the original series and contains most of the characters in small parts except the Mannix Ghosts which is kinda sad that we didn’t get to see them. But this is about the collective so people directly related to it is probably more relevant. I had hoped that when Mark was introduced that he would get his story and I was really happy to find out we did. It was very cute and his grumpiness is hilarious. I do kind of wish we got a bit more of them falling in love, versus hearing about it 2 months in, what it was they loved about the other etc. that felt a little skipped over, but once I let that go I just sat back and enjoyed the story and about the updates to the Demon Human truce formed in earlier events. They make a cute couple and I liked how their relationship wrapped up with a HEA. The switch to Greg from Nick as narrator was a surprise, but as it’s mostly different characters it wasn’t a big deal but ironically, Greg was able to very ably replicate Norval’s voice, and since he was the one with the most recognizable accent and the main returning character besides the MC I was pleasantly surprised. I would have recognized his voice even if I wasn’t told who the character was. Greg and Nick are always fantastic so I was ok with the switch even though I was a bit surprised.

Finally!! Ian and Marc with allllll the snark! ;)

I can’t say enough positive about this book. Louisa knocked this out of the park. I have been anxious since Ian kissed Marc in the Ghostly Guardians series and she did not disappoint. Marc is as snooty as he is entertaining and Ian is too sarcastic and witty for words. I loved seeing some beloved characters from the Ghostly Guardians series as well. <3
Incredibly well-written!
The performance was so entertaining to listen to, with the voices being very distinct and attitude shining through! This will be on my re-listen to list!

For me, it's a snoozer

Juvenile humor and the plot is plodding. For me, it's a miss; even the narrator's generally good job couldn't save it And, of course, YMMV.
