Publisher's summary

Alex Foster's life is exactly as she wants it. She's quit her job as an English teacher and has decided to hole up in her newly acquired lake house for the summer to try her hand at writing a novel. She has close friends; she has her dog; she plays volleyball. She is content.

Jennifer Wainwright is a wealthy young suburbanite whose life is exactly as she expected it would be. She's married to her high school sweetheart, who is about to inherit his father's law firm. She has friends. And she has the whole summer to work on decorating the new house on the lake she and her husband have just purchased as their summer home. She is content.

A chance meeting over a runaway pooch is the start of a journey for each woman. Over the course of one unbelievable summer set on the beautiful shores of Canandaigua Lake in Upstate New York, these two women will teach one another, learn from one another, question their own beliefs and expectations, and unwittingly fall in love.

Absolutely 3D

I have read several books that are 1
Dimensional and rather flat. The neighbors wife was in full color and 3D.

Older book that survives the test of time.

I love that this story finally became an audio book. Lula Larkin is a great narrator. The is very relatable and I can fill it out with years of personal experience.

Thoroughly enjoyable

This is based on a common theme, straight woman hiding a lesbian desire. Narration was good and the story flowed nicely. The characters were fitting for their parts. I listened to this one straight through with no regrets. The only downside for me was to how homophobic someone’s family (mothers) can be towards one of their grown children. Very sad.

I would recommend use of a credit.

Siked for this audiobook

I’ve loved this book for so many years. Identify with Alex and sympathize for Jennifer. I’ve been checking audible every year until I found it. Amazing narration Lula.

Throughly Enjoyed a Second Time

Years ago I read this book and was looking forward to the audiobook. Wasn’t disappointed! Lulu Larkin is fast becoming one of my favorite narrators. This is a fantastic book with lovely characters and engaging dialogue.

Another great Georgia Beers Story

I am a huge Georgia Beers fan and this one was as always a good one.

However…I struggled to not return it based on the narrator’s voice. Wow, it was horrible and the very obvious trying to change to a male voice was rough. A good narrator will seamlessly make the transition between characters and this one didn’t. I don’t like being such a tough critic, I just expected more from a Georgia Beers book. I’ll be skipping her books with this narrator in the future. :(
