What a wonderful Story!!

I truly enjoyed this book. It has all the makings of a Great Movie! The amazing story through the eyes of this old Baptist Minister... and the stories he has to tell. What a way to show the time period and how much things had changed in his life... and how he allowed his Life to be guided by God. The Narration was superb... and at times,. I got a "Mark Twain" humorous feeling from it. KUDOS!!!!!

Historical Truth

I could hardly wait to get to my car to start my commute. The worst part was the days that the traffic was light and I couldn't listen as long as I wanted to. Fantastic beautiful story.

Integrity, Insight and Faith in Time of Turmoil

Full of wit and unexpected twists and turns, this is the amazing tale of Joseph Willis, the half Cherokee preacher that stood on his principles and the word of God, at a time that could've gotten him killed . . . befriending the most unlikely of characters along the way, learning their stories and most of all CARING . . . based on a true story, this book will change the way you think about life, the way you approach situations, and give you hope . . . hope that ONE person can make a difference . . . even in the time of slavery . . . even now . . .

Christian Historical Fiction

I loved so much about this book, but not everything.
Although I know it's historically accurate, I had a hard time listening to the language and the terrible way blacks were treated in during the time of this preacher's almost 100 years of life.
The rest of the story was like a bunch if entertaining tall tales with name dropping and wild explanations for certain historical events. In a way it reminds me of Forest Gump. Like him running across the country and a guy needed a new t-shirt design. He gave forest a t-shirt to wipe the splattered mud off his face and then the smiley face is the new design. The stories are entertaining and parts have historical figures, events, or times, but you just shake your head or shrug your shoulders!
The narration was very enjoyable!
