Ahed Tamimi is a world-renowned Palestinian activist, born and raised in the small West Bank village of Nabi Saleh, which became a center of the resistance to Israeli occupation when an illegal, Jewish-only settlement blocked off its community spring. The story of a Palestinian girl, who becomes a woman really tugs at my heart. I didn’t really appreciate the effect. The Israeli occupation had on the people of Palestine. This is an excellent book to have the perspective of a Palestinian in the occupied Israel territories.

They call me a lioness is an inspiring story of a young girl's strength and determination in the face of injustice. It depicts the difficulties faced by Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. Despite the many challenges, Ahed Tamimi never gives up hope and continues to fight for her people's freedom. This is an important book that highlights the human spirit's capacity to endure and overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

This eye opening and thoughtful book goes into important history that everyone paying attention to what’s happening in Gaza, and all of Palestine, should know. The first hand story of a courageous child, now a brave and articulate young adult, is moving beyond words.

Necessary reading

This book is an essential read for anyone. Period. End of statement.
If you need more to convince you- the narrator is clear and carries a great tone throughout the text. The book itself is well written and knits events and context from past and future events to what part of Ahed’s life is being described. Most of all it speaks volumes to life in one of the hardest places to live on earth and captures one girls’ journey through do many facets of the Palestinian experience. I pray Ahed will be able to write another memoir as an old woman sitting by the Mediterranean Sea.
