Publisher's summary

Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge. Whose secrets are you keeping? And why?

A woman falls to her death from a London bank’s twenty-fifth-floor roof terrace.

You're arrested for her murder.

You tell the police that you had only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump down from the roof, but you had talked her down.

You've got nothing to do with this tragedy. You're clearly being framed.

So why do the police keep picking holes in your story? Even your lawyer doesn't seem to believe you.

It soon becomes obvious that you're keeping secrets.

But who are you trying to protect? And why?

Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge.

Get ready for one of the most twisty-turny novels you will listen to this year.

My New Favorite Ruth Mancini Book!

This gripping, intricately plotted thriller is dark, sharp, and whip-smart.

Characterizations are strong, multi-layered, and ultra-compelling.

The book's "Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge" theme showcased multiple unreliable narrators and gasp-worthy twists.

TWs: Pedophilia, Cancer.

This is my third Ruth Mancini book and this extraordinarily talented author continues to wow me.

Per Ruth Mancini's bio, she has spent over 25 years in and out of courts and police stations, representing those accused of crimes, and her robust knowledge of the legal system and the criminal mind shines.

Although narrator Annabel Scholey did a superb job with the narration, I would have preferred a full-cast audiobook narration.

5 enthusiastic glowing stars.

Phenomenal

Best book I’ve ever read! The twists will knock your socks off & the story will bring you to tears. Usually the more thrilling a book is, the more unrealistic the story ends up being. This book sacrifice nothing. I read the paperback in one sitting.

Quick paced. Great arc

I enjoyed the story and the narrator’s voice. Fun read. Having a word minimum for reviews is annoying

Great story and even better narration!

From beginning to end, I was hooked and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. This was my introduction to Ruth Mancini, and I’m looking forward to reading more from her. I know it’s still early in 2024, but this may be the book of the year for me.

Man-Hater Undertone. Just sad...

I really wanted to like this book. They were plenty of twists and turns and suspense. Overall, I would say it's even expertly written.

But there is a clear "manhater" tone permeating throughout the book. I wanted to like this book so much but felt like I was being punched in the face at almost every chapter turn.

Every single man in this book is either depicted as a buffoon, aloof, uninvolved, unintelligent, or downright violently abusive. I don't recall a single exception to this.

Even when hate speech is gentle and subtle, it should be denounced. Therefore, I can't recommend this one.
